Usually, topic sentence is placed in the first sentence. It contains information of overall paragraph but not too generic or too specific. Then, the supporting sentences follow in the next sentences, explaining the topic sentence. And, in the end of paragraph, usually there's a concluding sentence that rephrase the paragraph into a conclusion. To understand how to use these type of sentences, my strategy is I should understand what is the fuction of the sentences and practice a lot to get used to it.
