It is not yellow, but perhaps they draw it yellow because when we see the Sun from Earth (mostly at sunrise/sunset, because another hour will hurt more our eyes) we look it yellowish-orangish.

It depends on the definition of "color" :) All stars emit all kind of radiation, but we can see "colored" stars. How we see the sun is a problem of how radiation crosses our atmosphere and how our detector (eye) get different wavelength.

Whoever you ask will tell you that the Sun is yellow-orange. On TehnoCultura.ro, where I write about technology and science, among other things, I like to publish articles that will light our minds a little.

The sun is NOT yellow. It is a star in the stage of the main sequence of the yellow dwarf class (G2V spectral class), dwarfs that may have colors from yellow (lower brightness) to white (higher brightness). It emits "white" light, because all colors are emitted in the same proportion. If you were in space, you would see it as a white bullet in the sky.

For another 5.5 billion years we will enjoy its white light, after which it will turn orange when it becomes a red giant.

However, why do we see it yellow on Earth? The answer is simple: the atmosphere spreads blue light through the air molecules (where we see the blue sky) and the rest of the colors manage to reach our eyes in the form of yellow-orange color.

That depends on the filter that we use to observe it through the telescope. However, in the texts we find that the sun is a yellow star. I for example reread this in 2012 transit of venus and in 2016 the transit of mercury, and were two colors that arooked me.

When we see the sun from space or high in the sky it is white. We see the sun yellow, orange or red, when it is low in the sky. It depends on the atmospheric scattering . The atmospheric scattering is also responsible that we don't see all colours. Blue is more scattered and so we see the complementary colour white.

Thinking of Picasso: many painters usually paint the Sun like a yellow spot. Yet, not any yellow spot is the Sun. Yes, children paint the Sun like a big orange/yellow circle with happy eyes and a smile. Going back to Picasso: "All the children are artists. The problem is how to remain artists once they grow". My students accept the fact the Sun is white after I show them that white means the colors of the rainbow. For a while I had in my classrooms rainbow like Suns. I had the same artistic problem with the human faces from the Moon. Kids...

When we see the Sun at sunrise or sunset, when it is low in the sky, it may appear yellow, orange, or red. But that is only because its short-wavelength colors (green, blue, violet) are scattered out by the Earth's atmosphere, much like small waves are dispersed by big rocks along the shore. Hence only the reds, yellows, and oranges get through the thick atmosphere to our eyes.
All forms of light and energy are part of the same phenomena: the electromagnetic spectrum. Our eyes can detect only a small amount of this energy, that portion we call "visible light."
Sometimes the display color of the Sun is culturally determined. If a kindergartener in the USA colors a picture of the Sun, they will usually make it yellow. However, a kindergartener in Japan would normally color it red!
In spite of these "artistic licenses", the Sun really is white!

The real color of the sun is white. The reason that the Sun looks yellow to us is because the Earth’s atmosphere scatters higher wavelength colors, like red, orange and yellow less easily. Hence, these wavelengths are what we see, which is why the Sun appears yellow.

The sun is white. The white color of the sun stems from the fact that it emits radiation over a wide range of frequencies. In the visible range, its white color comes from the mixture of the other colors. And this can be seen "in reverse", that is, the white light of the Sun can be separated into the various other colors that make it up - that is how the rainbow appears.

No, it isn't! Everyone thinks the Sun is yellow, but it is actually white because the rays it sends are white. But before these rays come to us, this light passes through the terrestrial atmosphere that tends to disperse the radiation in the wavelengths of blue and purple, so the wavelengths that pass are yellow.

The color of the sun is not only yellow, it is all colors mixed togheter.. Actually, the colors themselves are only an illusion, in fact it is our brain to interpretate the different wave lengths that reach our retina. It is a bit complicated , but it can be explained to our students too ;)
