What was interesting to me about the Progressive Era was that this was the time where everyone was trying to develop the U.S.A and it’s people ,in all types of ways and it’s improvements reflected on what the u.s.a is today.Another thing I found interesting about the Progressive Era is that for example president roosevelt did the “square scandal “ where as ,it was suppose to conserve the fairness for people ,breaking of trusts, regulation of railroads and pure food and drugs. He was very concerned for the people ,did a lot for the environment. He established national parks, forests, and monuments, As well as being part of the Panama Canal in Central America. These were multiple changes in the progressive era in which conserved in what the U.S.A is today. Also passed the Elkins Act which authorized interstate commerce commission Act of 1887 and Trhe Hepburn Act 1906 gave power to ICC set maximum railroad rates and extend its jurisdiction.
The Question I have is , Did Roosevelt actually intend to conserve the people out of his own care ,was he actually concerned ? Or was he just doing this for people to stop complaining and to look pretty firm for progressive era.

3 laws or reforms:
1) Elkins Act was passed to leivied heavy fines on companies that engaged in illegal rebating to address the issue of big cooperation and industries abusing their powers such as the railroads companies engaging in corrupt businesses.
2) Hepburn Act was passed to strengthened the interstate commerce commission. The purpose of this law was to set maximum rates, inspect a company's book, and investigate railroads for the commission.
3) Square Deal was Roosevelt way of voicing or addessing the concern for the era. He plans on improving it by focusng on controllng corporation, consumer protection, and conservation.

2 things I found interesting:
1) Roosevelt was in the side of the union/workers because I thought that president during the progressive era would focus on big cooperation and business to "improve" the economy.
2) Taft didn't possess the quality or characteristic of a president but he won anyway....

Question I have:
1) Did Roosevelt actually care about the workers? Because my group said that the only reason he decided to act of the workers strike because he saw that as a problem so he wanted to look good or something but I think he did care about the workers condition because his square deal was beneficial to the workers

However, Taft lacked capability to be an effective president along with lacked Roosevelt’s personality and hadn’t lived up to certain expectations upon him.
1 question about Progressive Era:
Did Americans at the time looked at certain reforms and acts being passed, as helpful into creating a more functioning government and country?
