I strongly agree with Marina and Gisela. Our students inner motivation has lowered too much. Academic contents have become useless in this context and keep on sticking to old methodologies is preventing us from developing new sources of enthusiasm for them.

Actually...I have no idea, I'm still wondering how I did it!
The main difficulty was having my 4 year old daughter at home 24x7 and teach my students. Balancing time.

In order not to be repetitive I'd like to point out this "2 sides of the same coin" notion. On the one hand the metamorphosis that teacher have gone through in the assertive sense of the expression and, on the other, the opportunity gap tha students have faced in the negative sense of the expression.

I totally agree with my colleagues. It is true that many students have not build the necessary knowledge for each subject… but it is also true that we, as caring teachers, cannot focus ONLY on the content they have missed. We need to talk about our/their experiences throughout this period and try to be supportive for those students (and teachers) who have not had nice experiences at home.

I think that we had and are struggling among our classes, methodologies and students. During 2020, we had a significant breakdown, without schools or students to teach, or time, nor curriculum. We were like swimming against the watercourse. No one could helps us or guide as in our labor.
We also suffer from technological boundaries and families that couldn´t help their own children mainly because the language boundary itself. However we could pull themselves out of the water with creative ideas but mainly because we constantly search new tools to be part of our classes.

It was really difficult for teachers in general I think.
Personally, I was part of a previous course of study from Ministerio de educación, and that was my life guard. I really learnt a lot and I could use all those tools in my classes and with my students. They were delighted!!

I agree with my colleagues, it has been difficult for teachers and students to overcome the difficulties of working in our homes. At the beginning it was a mystery how to start and organize ourselves. It took us a lot of time to set boundaries between our daily life routine and answering messages, zoom meetings, planning, investigating and updating.

It has been difficult to cope with so many changes. At first I spent all days connected 24/7 but when I started with health problems because of stress I had to stop and organize myself. I was advised to start exercising and not to work at weekends. At the end of 2020 I could “relax” and started 2021 in a different and better way.

The text develops an important idea which I consider to be relevant. Access to technology and internet DOES NOT guarantee knowledge and learning. It can mean a useful tool but educational justice is another matter to consider.
This new reality put us on the spot as regards being an educator in the sense that we had to reinvent ourselves and we also had to look for new strategies and methods to ensure a proper teaching. At the same time, keeping teenagers locked at home showed parents how difficult and challenging it can be to help and guide their kids (students) during the learning process. Responsible parents could witness and experience what teaching involves in the sense that last year was characterized by "teachers working together with families" as the text says.

It is true that this reality has affected us all, but not in a negative way. As the teacher says, tools have always been there but this was the right time to start using them with no excuses. Education had a new meaning in the sense that time and space were different. it also showed how difficult it is to be a good teacher, as she said because differences as regards students realities were on the spot adn we had to look for every kind of solution available. I actually get on well with technology so it wasn't that hard. However, there were some aspects as regards documents edition which I found quite difficult. WE had to correct our exams using PDF files, pictures, word files, etc. And I realized I never was so good at that, so it was a whole learning process. All in all, teaching english have always gone hand in hand with technology. We have always used images, pictures, audios and videos :)

The ideas which I considered to be the most important ones are the comparisson between the past and present educational situation. Not everybody was able to overcome obstacles (internet, equipment, skills) and at the same time it involved having a brave attitude towards the situation.

Apart from that, being a learner again is something relevant. The use of technology was the main challenge for us all.

The negative aspect was being aware of the effect of the pandemic as regards the interruption during the learning process. Kids won't learn the same way and at the same time they had to adapt to this new reality, just like teachers. Lessons have become shorter, and education is crucial during our first years. Also engagement is different, commitment towards tasks changed. Let alone the fact that not everyone had the same access to technology.

Hello, I'm Cynthia Iannotti. I agree with my mates. It's hard work to do, but always trying to give the best for students, encourage them, arousing their interest in the subject, specially those who have English for the first time in primary school, as in my case. Students are eager to learn and start normal classes again, they missed it during 2020 and it was hard work to do as remote work. Giving priorities, and concentrating on the nuclear ideas we have to teach,.it is possible to go on.

I think all of us felt a little bit lost
at the beggining, I just wasn´t able to think or
imagine how to manage all the changes. As Marina and Walter
said, it was frustrating dealing with inequalities among students
and on the other hand our own technological problems.
After the firts weeks passed by, and many failed assignments, I realized
I had to change the way i was thinking my planning.
It was a great opportunity to share and learn from my collegues,
and design projects that motivate students to participate and complete assignments.
We learnt about our students reallity and needs, and we tried to deal with inequalities.

if we are not motivated.

I coped the changes during the covid-19 pandemic, implemented other forms of teaching, using technology, social networks, WhatsApp and zoom, connecting every day (Monday to Friday) with the students to carry out the tasks and strengthen teacher-student ties. In my case, I love technology as I learnt it from my father. las year, I liked learning about new tools to create attracting content for students. However, the context of schools in general is that students don't have Internet access at hand. At the beggining my colleague and I created a Facebook page in which we uploaded interesting content (material, songs, grammar tips) and the links to the different activities. Then, our students sent their activities by email. A few months later we started working with Google classroom. Though teachers managed to deal with the different technologies, many students were excluded due to the lack of Internet access.
I also have to kids who also needed Internet connection. It wasn´t easy at all!

Last year we, teachers, had to deal with different invonvinients. To start with, not all of us (teachers and students) had the neccesary tools and knowledge to teach on line. I totally agree with this reading. I strongly think that as every aspect in life, the educational context has been affected by this unexpected situation too. Our students are demotivated, the classrooms are almost empty, and the curriculum blurred. Super interesante el texto y como resume lo que se vivió/vive en este contesto de pandemia. Como dice en el mismo, Durante el 2020 toda la comunidad educativa se vio envuelta en un torbellino de cambios. Tuvimos que hacer usos de medios audiovisuales, cuadernillos impresos y plataformas digitales. Se rompieron las fronteras tradicionales de la escuela y nos tuvimos que rearmar para sostener la continuidad educativa de los alumnos focalizándonos en sus trayectorias. Si bien se hizo un seguimiento personalizado de cada estudiante y se usaron distintas herramientas para llegar a los mismos, conforme las escuelas seguían cerradas, tristemente la desigualdad entre alumnos eran más evidentes y la brecha se ampliaba cada vez más….brecha que al volver a la presencialidad deberemos atacar y achicar urgente.

During 2020, I tried to cover every single need from my students. I prepared videos on YouTube, handouts and workbooks... We had lessons on zoom, meet and WhatsApp for those who did not have a computer. I worked with colleagues from other areas to present related topics and activities. When we went back to school this year, the first months I started working with small groups of students who were sitting individually with almost 2 mts among them (The grade was divided in half so we had 2 groups called bubbles A and B and each group had lessons one week each). Luckily, the whole group is together now.

As Melina Furman mentions in her video, not only teachers and students are learning new tools and new ways of teaching . People in general are all immerse in a new learning proncess. This pandemic forced us to use change, to move from our comfort zone and to revise our practise. To learn not only about new technologies but also about things we like and how to organise our time and the way we learn.Moreover, we learnt to cherish what we have, how lucky we are and how difficult things are for others.

I enjoy learning new things. Sometimes I look for tutorials when I do not know how something works…if not I ask my friends and peers about new ideas or any doubt.I got surprised as regards my teaching experience during the outbreak: I was impress how far my students and I got despite all difficulties with technology, homework and motivation. Moreover, I got impressed how well most students and their parents adapted to the circumstances and made their best to improve their learning.

I agree with most of my colleagues. I believe that teachers around the word learnt different apps, resources, skills…as well as students.
I liked the metaphor that one of my colleagues used : ”I'd like to point out this "2 sides of the same coin" notion. On the one hand the metamorphosis that teacher have gone through in the assertive sense of the expression and, on the other, the opportunity gap that students have faced in the negative sense of the expression”

The main ideas presentend in this podcast are mainly related to the effects that this pandemic has triggered. Undoubtedly, this situation has affected everybody in different ways and we, as teachers, have had the difficult mission of adapting to this new reality, "we have changed from CAN´T TO CAN". Moreover, many students have been affected because of the unavailable access to internet, equipments, etc. For that reason it´s highly important to bridge the gap bewteen this unexpected situation and a more pedagogical and inclusive learning reality. I agree with my colleague that says "...teachers made any things in order to solve issues like those. For example print the homework and take it to their houses..." I saw it, not only printing activities to take to student`s houses but also some schools prepare bags with food and clothes too.

I Like the first comment that says “maybe not wanted, but needed. A now subject was born for a teaching course. how to teach during the lock-down” ...as we have seen there are plenty of material now available on the web on this topic.

It is shocking to read at the end of the extra reading material by Axel Rivas “Este tiempo no es una “oportunidad educativa””. Even though we all know that coronavirus is a tragedy and that the lock down generated inequalities, we cannot get stuck with that negative idea. We have to keep positive and see the good in the bad (like Yin and Yang)…We have to focus on how much we have learnt, the value of little things in our everyday life and the importance of relationships and affections.

As it has been mentioned by other collegues, motivation and student involvement with school activities have been challenging and a day to day struggle. The truth is this situation has been tiring for both students and teachers. I think most of us ended 2020 believing that this year was going to be a tiny bit easier as we had delat and come up with resources and ideas from 2020. However, 2021 brought yet another new way of doing things and the answers we had from 2020 were not enough or became futile in the current reality. Up to an extent, teaching has always been about asking and answering questions about our practice nonstop, yet the pandemic made it clear how dire inequality can be among even the same city.
As regards the proposed text, I can see these were questions that my collegues and I had yet in practice, having to teach in three different schools, I can say they can be taken only as general guidelines. Reality is a case-by-case scenario.

In truth, it was tiring, time-consuming and emotional draining specially at the beginning. I would find myself working from 8 am to 10 pm and sometimes even longer hours. I really felt we were juggling with variables that were way out of our control while we tried to keep hope and give a sense of order and control to the community. In my case, I really missed being face to face with my students. Even though I have always believed that technology for education was always a pathway into the future, this situation was far from my vision on how to implement it.

I wouldn't say it was hard to learn how to use them. What I lacked was time to do so. I had already had a handful of online resources that I used to use for my lessons before the pandemic and I stuck to those for a long time, not because I wasn't willing to learn new things but because I truly didn't have the time or energy to invest in learning them. In the end, I did manage to add some new resources, though.

I agree with what it has been discussed. in reality, teaching and learning are ever-changing processes and we as educators must always find ways to adapt to the new ways of the world and the people living in it. The context in which this is happening is far from ideal yet that doesn't exclude it from being necessary or beneficial in the long run.

I do agree with both the positive and negativlearninge aspects mentioned in the podcast. Also, this is not online ... we are still in the emergency phase of the situation. I feel that each of us did what they could with the resources they had at hand... I would also add that I do not believe that we must face every situation with sunshine and rainbows... sometimes it's ok to express what is wrong, sad and painful and build hope together with our students from that.

Taking into account the bibliographic material read, I can state that the pandemic exposed many inequalities, among them in the educational field the lack of access to devices and technological resources of many students and teachers to access and sustain the school trajectory. In addition to also highlighting the lack of technological knowledge on the part of teachers.I found the term EDUCATIONAL JUSTICE so interesting, where each student is guaranteed the technological resources to access virtual classes, as well as access to connectivity. It is also important that from what we experienced in 2020, we are taught that it is a necessary condition, teacher-student training spaces to promote the effective use of digital technologies for teaching-learning, from a pedagogical point of view. In January 2020 I got married, and after the great change of city, coexistence, new job, the pandemic arrived. There were many changes, but the most difficult thing was the emotional in all areas, the personal, and also with my students. The first thing I took into account was that I had to be a useful teacher, maintain the school-student-family bond. For this we work collectively all the teachers of the school using the technological resources to which the students and their families had access. It is very interesting to always listen to Melina Furman. Taking into account what it says, it happened to all of us to learn to use technology, quickly, to be able to use it to teach. The pandemic revealed a new reality that we had to face, we were forced to face it and do our best as professionals. And in my person I revealed that I did not have enough knowledge about the use of technology, or my knowledge was very brief. I agree with most of my colleagues. At the beginning of the pandemic, the situation was very stressful. We as teachers learned to use technology very quickly. Also, we had to plan activities so that students could complete them individually, without (face to face) help. And the most important but very difficult was to maintain communication with the families.
