The person that Paul was before the conversion was a reason that he was chosen. Saul was a Jewish raised man and he thought that the people who followed God should be punished and by punishment to leave the Jewish 'fold'. This was one reason that Saul was chosen. God saw the person that Saul was and somehow thought that if you praised any other religion you should be punished . God also saw that he was a strong person that could follow what he believed in and if anyone doubted him he would change their mind about him. St Paul visited a lot of places but he couldn't stay there forever. So, every place he visited he wrote a letter so they would remember and learn more about Jesus and God. How this relates to everyday life is if you believe and you have faith you we get by and there is someone their that will help you. Paul helped many people out with salvation and that's how it relates to the modern day because their is someone like Paul that will help you get by. How it is applied to people and groups in the modern day is we have something called Salvation army.
