A historical even that happened in my life time was 9/11. This has directly impacted my life because I have joined the Iowa National Guard. After 9/11 happened I felt a duty to my country to join and fight for my freedoms. Another influence would be a cultural trend of the smart phones (FaceTime). This has impacted my life by being able to keep in touch with my family that live in different states.
