Publication Date: March 2, 2021

Poet: Rodoula Pappa

Genre: Poetry, Children's Literature

Grade level: K-2

Summary: This book is composed of many different poems. It is filled with haiku-inspired poems. Each chapter incorporates a season, fall, winter, spring, and fall. Through each chapter there is an illustration that sets each vibe according to the season. For the summer chapter it is very short only 3 lines and has an illustration of a grasshopper landing on a dog in a beautiful portion of land covered with flowers. It is bright and bubbly.

Response: I really enjoyed looking through this book I think it is perfect for the Kindergartener age level. It has a lot of bright and engaging pictures involved with the perfect amount of words on each page. Often times books can be overwhelming for students due to the amount of words on the pages, but this author understood their audience and planned out the illustrators perfectly!

Pete absolutely ruins his shoes on accident and he never lets it ruin his day no matter how many times it has occurred. This book also shows cause and effect relationships. Just because one is different in the way they communicate does not mean you cannot find a way to communicate with them. This book also shows children one can overcome their differences and learn to love thy self truly and that just because you cannot immediately develop friendships does not mean you never will. One thing I love about this book was that the main character was not forced to change and become one of the others. Their differences were embraced not blended in. This shows children that differences are okay to possess and that they should not try to hide or attempt to 'fix' their differences.
