Kalamata

Our students come from the local settlements of Anthia, Aristeino, Loutra, Aetochori, Doriko, Agnantia, and Nipsa.

This poster was created based on the children's own ideas and suggestions, as part of our Skills Labs (Ergastiria Dexiotiton).

It is worth taking a walk through the old village with its narrow streets. In addition, every Saturday thousands of residents from the villages of the Messara come to Moires, where the largest bazaar—open-air market—of Crete takes place. From Moires you can visit many places, such as Roman Gortyna, the Minoan Palaces of Phaistos and Agia Triada, Matala, the Faneromeni Dam, the villages of Psiloritis, the wild Asterousia Mountains, and many others.

They are a selection of photographs sent to us by the parents of our children, which we then worked on and processed together with our kindergarten pupils in order to become familiar with the hometown of our partner school.

Mount Egaleo serves as the primary "green lung" of Western Attica. It offers panoramic views of the entire Athens Basin and the Saronic Gulf, making it an ideal spot for hiking, physical exercise, and a natural escape far from the city noise.

Estavromenos Church

The Church of Estavromenos is the hallmark and the central religious core of the city. Located in Egaleo's main square, it serves as a meeting point for residents, standing out for its imposing architecture and historical significance to the area.

Metro Station

The "Egaleo" Metro station is one of the busiest on Line 3, providing a direct and fast connection between Western Athens, the city center, and the airport. Its construction significantly upgraded the area, facilitating the daily commute of thousands of citizens and students.

Egaleo Town Hall

The Town Hall is the administrative center of the municipality, housed in a modern building that hosts municipal services. It is a reference point for local government and social activities, situated in a central location with easy access.

Baroutadiko Area

Baroutadiko is a historical site transformed into one of the most beautiful parks in Athens. Named after the old gunpowder factory (pyritidopoieio) that once operated there, it now offers lush paths, sports courts, recreation areas, and cultural events, making it a favorite destination for a stroll.

University of West Attica

The University of West Attica (UNIWA), with its facilities in Egaleo, is one of the largest educational institutions in the country. The presence of thousands of students brings vitality and a youthful pulse to the city, establishing Egaleo as an important center for knowledge, research, and culture.

In the area of Nea Agchialos, two ancient cities flourished in the past: Pyrasos and Phthiotic Thebes. Archaeological findings attest to continuous human presence from Neolithic times to the present day. The town is well known for its beautiful beach, picturesque small harbor, and significant archaeological remains.

How far away is Kalamata from Alexandroupolis ??

Our answer:

We searched at Google maps ,writing the route from 5th Kindergarten of Kalamata to the 23rd Kindergarten of Alexandroupolis and we found that ...it is 990 km and we want 10 hours to be at your city

It a long distance but good friends always find a way to be together 🥰🥰

How many Kindergartens do you have at Kalamata ?

Our answer

We have got 26 Kindergartens of General Education and one Kindergarten for kids with Special Abilities ,that we visited last December🥰🥰

At the end of our discussion, two questions arose that we would very much appreciate your help in answering:
1st: How far is Kalamata from Alexandroupoli?
2nd: How many kindergartens are there in Kalamata?

1.      Do you have a patron saint like Kalamata has got the Ypapanti and you don't have school?( like us every 2nd of February?)

Our answer:

The patron saint of Alexandroupolis is Saint Nicholas, who is celebrated on December 6th. On that day, we do not have school.

2. Do you have big ships at your harbour?

Our answer:

Yes, sometimes large cruise ships come to the port of Alexandroupoli, as well as NATO ships.

3. Do you live in block of flats like us or in smaller houses with fewer floors ( one floor or two floors)?

Our answer:

Most children live in apartment buildings, mainly three-storey ones, and some live in two-storey maisonettes. Fortunately, our area does not yet have many high-rise apartment buildings.

4.Have you ever seen flamingos ,that got rest at the Delta of your river Evros?

Our answer:

We have seen flamingos, not at the Evros Delta, but when they come to a beach about 8 kilometers away from our kindergarten, at Apalos Beach. It is a beach that we have “adopted,” and we visit it often — sometimes to clean it and other times to look for little treasures.

5.Can you go for a boat journey on Evros river?( We saw at your video a boat hedge at Evros)

Our answer:

Yes, we can go on a boat ride on the Evros River, but only at specific spots and in a safe way. Usually, boat rides take place at the Evros Delta with small boats and with the guidance of special tour guides. There, we learn about the birds and animals that live in the area and enjoy nature. The river is a border of our country, so there are rules that we must always follow.

In Arrifes there are many pastures because we have a lot of cows. Almost all of our parents have tractors because many of them work in farming and agriculture.

Very close to our school there is the Church of Our Lady of Piedade, which is right across the street.

In our municipality we can also visit a large volcano: the Sete Cidades Volcano, which is a very beautiful and special place. On our island we can also go to Furnas, a place located inside another volcano. There we can see fumaroles, geysers, and even cook food underground.

Sometimes we go there with our families: we place the food in pots, bury them in the warm ground, and then go for a walk. When we come back, the food is already cooked and ready to eat!

The municipality of Agios Dimitrios is crossed by the stream of Pikrodafni, which flows down from Hymettus and ends in the Saronic Sea at Paleo Faliro. This is a wetland that you would not imagine could exist in a densely populated area of ​​the capital.

In Agios Dimitrios there is also the area of ​​Asyrmatos, which in recent years has been granted management to the municipality of Agios Dimitrios by the government, with the prospect of creating facilities and a promenade park there for the use of the residents of the municipality and the surrounding areas for sports and recreation, as well as for walking their pets.

In Agios Dimitrios since the 1970s there has also been the Strongylo school on St. Papagou Street. It is a special design creation by the architect Takis Zenetou, an architectural jewel as it has been characterized with an eye towards the future, very advanced for the time it was built.

Next to the Agios Dimitrios METRO station - Alekos Panagoulis is the large shopping center ATHENS METRO MALL with many shops, cafes and cinemas.

It is a meeting place for our students and many events are held there.

You can find all sorts of playground' toys such as slides, swings and seesaws, as well as a sandpit.

Volunteer painters and graffiti artists who received permission from the Municipality of Agios Dimitrios to make our city more beautiful.

This statue is dedicated to all the women of the Resistance during the World War II, but also all the women who sacrificed themselves for peace, freedom and our country.

There are many basketball, football, tennis, ping pong courts, large areas for children to ride bikes and skate, playgrounds for young and older children. Asyrmatos is full of trees and plants and one can see animals, such as turtles, birds and insects.

We play basketball, football, tennis. We ride bikes and skate. We play many team games like chase, hide and seek. Some children even fly their kites there.
