I see lots of paraphrasing. Sometime the mentor used inquiry and sometimes the mentee used the paraphrase as a springboard.

Kristin Dreyer: I noticed that the conversation starts with the mentee seeming very emotional. The mentor listens, nods empathetically, and says "Mhmm" in an encouraging way. When she first paraphrases what the mentee said, she asks it like a question. That gives the mentee room to keep talking.

Then the mentor got to the heart of the matter - asking what the mentee enjoys about the course and what's most important about it. She asks thought-provoking questions and makes sure the converation ends on a positive note.
