  • Temperature: how hot or cold something is
  • Weather patterns- occurs when the weather stays the same for days or weeks at a time. ... There are a few different weather patterns that you may already know about, such as hot and dry, wet and rainy, or cold.
  • Seasons:  four different times during the year with different types of weather. The four seasons are called spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Seasons change throughout the year because of the way the earth moves.
  • Thermometer:  instrument for determining temperature specifically

  • Weather and Seasons By Sue Barraclough: This book talks about the water cycle, what thunder and lightning are, and why the North Pole is cold.
  • Whatever the Weather By Karen Wallace: A little boy watches the weather change right outside his window. He sees snow, rain, the sun and hail.
  • Weather Patterns By Monica Hughes: This book talks about why we have weather patterns, different climate patterns and why the weather is what it is during different times of the year.
  • Watching the Weather (Wind) By Elizabeth Miles: This book goed over why wind blows, how people measure the speed of wind and where the wind is the most dangerous.
  • Season to Season By Anita Ganeri: In this book it talks about why we have different seasons, which places only have 2 seasons, and what the equator is.

  • http://www.weatherwizkids.com/ : This website is designed to teach kids all about the weather around them. There is a kid zone as well as a spot for experiments. If you scroll down to the bottom of the website there are different things that are associated with weather and climate that you can click on and explore.
  • http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/wwatch/ : Students learn about the different types of weather, they can create their own meteorologist report by answering questions. They can also see how weather changes can  affect a farmhouse scene. 
  • https://climatekids.nasa.gov/menu/weather-and-climate/ : There are different categories to choose from. Students can choose articles to read and then answer questions. There are also interactive games to play. Something interesting that I like about this website is that it shows interviews with real people who have weather career jobs.
