https://padlet.com/madelynnpratt/hvivd18eez25 Heavy Metal/Screamo en-us 2018-03-26 02:06:46 UTC 2023-04-19 06:15:44 UTC hello@padlet.com madelynnpratt https://padlet.com/madelynnpratt/hvivd18eez25/wish/245920840 Heavy Metal or Screamo music is definitely outside of my musical comfort zone because I don’t enjoy the dark, depressing atmosphere of the genre and the intense screaming throughout the whole song.  There seems to be a lot going on in the pieces, it is almost like each instrument and vocal is its own thing and it gets too complex for me.  I feel like I have to focus on one aspect in order to not overwhelm myself.  I feel the word overwhelmed is a good way to describe the way I feel while listening to this genre.  The constant screaming also does not make me comfortable, it feels like someone is angry with me and it just makes me more stressed.  While research suggests that this extremely aggressive music actually “matche[s] their physiological arousal and results in an increase in positive emotions,” this normally applies to people who already enjoy listening to this type of music (daily health posts).  ]]> 2018-03-26 02:08:39 UTC https://padlet.com/madelynnpratt/hvivd18eez25/wish/245920840 madelynnpratt https://padlet.com/madelynnpratt/hvivd18eez25/wish/245921001 I do feel as though I understand a bit more why the artist is screaming through most of the song and why it seems so hectic.  I think the artist is trying to illustrate how they feel, all the emotions that they feel at once in one song.  I still feel a little overwhelmed when listening to this genre but I feel that I understand a bit more what is happening and as long as I have the lyrics up, I feel a bit better and less stressed out.  I still don't think that I would pick this genre as any more often than I do now, but I think if I was feeling very angry one day, this would pop into my mind. It is a very complex form of music and I have a new found respect for the artist that create this style of music.
