The song I chose to represent these genres was "1-800" by Logic. This song deals with subjects such as mental health, suicide awareness and the music video also covers the topic of LGBT. The genre of rap/ hip hop helps to effectively talk about the topic of mental illness because this genre is very popular within culture, while it is still not my personal favorite genre. Many songs within this genre are very purposeful and motivating. While other songs in genres such as country or pop may just try to get the listener to feel an emotion, rap often tries to provoke a change in the listener and make them think in a new way about something. Another example of a rap song is "Rap God" by Eminem.
