In 2019, I was attending a funeral in Brooklyn. After the funeral service I was a bit hunger so I stopped at a local Resturant to withdraw money so I could buy something to eat and I didn't think nothing of it because it had a TD logo on it. When I returned to Canada the following week I get a notification from TD Canada on my cell phone saying they have locked my account and obviously it felt a little weird because "why would my bank send me a text message?". I dawned on my all day so I said "let me give them a call". When I did they informed me that someone tried to withdraw $50,000 USD from my account. In that moment I felt my body getting cold knowing how easy it is for a scammer to gain access to my account, luckily TD has a protection against it so no money or NSF was applied to my account.

The thief was able to activate the card and withdraw $4,300 from the bank account that the owner was saving to pay the mortgage of his new apartment after his girlfriend was laid off due to covid. After noticing the money was being taken out of his account he was able to bring the surveillance footage showing TD that some broke into his mailbox and gained access to his banking information which they accused him of doing it himself or giving away his pin to the man to withdraw the funds. After multiple appeals, he was refunded the $4,300. After this happened TD change the method of how they will deliver bank cards which were to mail the bank card on a separate day then mail out the pin on another day which is a wise idea.

Since Capital One is one of the most popular credit cards right now, pretty much everyone has one where they can easily fall into the scam, as well as other popular banks such as TD, CIBC, Scotiabank, AMEX and so forth. 
 
What these scammers do is ask for the credit card number, expiry date and CVC, name, date of birth for verification purposes. The information they received was used to open a new credit card and refinance mortgages. Thousands of Canadians are targeted each day with this scam.

The female scammer was able to spend $19,000 at various Apple stores as well as transfer $10,000 worth of line of credit.
 
The man in the video has been exposed to not only credit card fraud but also identity theft. The scammer was able to make fake identification cards and bank cards to go inside the bank and withdraw money from the tellers without them noticing.
