IXL - Math Resource

IXL is a website that allows you to practice any math concept from K-12! What's my favorite part about it? I'm glad you asked! If you answer a problem incorrectly, IXL will show you the correct answer AND the steps to get that answer! Woohoo!

You don't need a password to use IXL, but it does restrict the quantity of problems students can solve as a guest. If, after you test the site out as a guest, you feel that IXL is a tool that could be beneficial to your child, please discuss enrollment with me. If your student is enrolled, IXL becomes a monitored support that they will be expected to work in. Since we have limited accounts this year, if your student does not utilize the program after we agreed upon it, they could be removed to clear the way for someone else.

Check out the video below!

As we attempt to mold our students into independent thinkers and prepare them for middle school, I want to keep reminding my 5th graders of the supports we have for students who are struggling in Math. If they webmail me looking for help, I will ask if they've attempted the supports below. Unfortunately, I cannot offer one on one tutoring for all 120 Math students, though I certainly wish I could. If students are struggling but aren't taking advantage of the supports we provide, it's just like hoping to lose weight without diet and exercise. :-)

Here's a quick video outlining our supports:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4aStqcw7-5mRF85VjVsU2tzREE/view?usp=sharing

Links and info:

*Math live lesson sessions with Mrs. Roth: Monday - Thursday at 10:30 am

*Math Tutoring with Mrs. Roth on current concepts - Monday - Thursday at 11:15 am

*Live Lesson recordings: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Afv4QqyyRysugkbBxAHVDspVHAybdFTHT7zxuZGcGdU/edit?usp=sharing

*Graphic organizers, videos and online practice for each unit: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xcWlvBpOHnG7maW7mdhP1JNlcsYqUptCU3NssYnUCBI/edit

*Khan Academy (see video for help!): https://www.khanacademy.org/

*Practice with IXL: http://www.ixl.com

*Unit Tests (printable versions with tips and tricks!): https://commonwealthcharter.padlet.org/rsmolens/2v4vq7ryysh8

*** Visit the Evening Support Room - FREE tutoring Monday-Thursday from 4-7pm here: https://cca.acms.com/eveningsupport

Math Fact Practice - VERY IMPORTANT

*XtraMath - an opportunity to practice basic Math facts, which 5th grade could really bennefit from.
