The womans sufferage movement first started in 1848 at the Seneca falls convention. It began when women like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton advocated for womens rights and the right to vote. They believed that participating politically would help make everything fair for women in their lives.Ove the years the two women worked tirelessly, marching, doing conventions, protesting, doing speeches. Their efforts helped lay the groundwork for future womens rights movements. The movement faced alot of opposition for the people who beleived women should stay uninvolved in politics. However, after many decades of hark works and protests the 19th amendment was passed in 1920 which granted women voting rights, which was a major victory for women. Sadly, women of color were not inckuded in this and they continued to face discrimination and barriers for many years. Despite the challenges the womens sufferage movement was a huge turning point in history which helped open more doors for the future women of the United States.
