Over the period of thousands of years the lava cools through the process solidification (making it go from lava to an igneous rock).

The life of my rock has always been on the crust of the earth meaning it has always been on the surface. My rock has very fine grain, meaning it has to be Intrusive (the lava slowly cools over time rather than a sharp instant reaction). I believe my rock is a Mafic rock, because it's more on the smooth side.
