1) Have student of the month (within Home class) => Improvement pertaining to behaviour, such as late coming, recognise students for their improvement.

2) Leverage on Gearup and non-curriculum programmes to improve student engagement in school and encourage them to be in good behaviour/motivated.

3) Strengthening TSR with students helps to manage behaviour or feedback to students more effectively.

4) Grow good personal habits to help these students regulate and manage their behaviour better.

Try to find out what is the root cause (e.g., why they are sleeping in class or why they detest a particular lesson/subject) - could be working part-time, something happening at the homefront.
When trying to manage students, need to make sure respect is still maintained/given (e.g., do not single out the student during lesson, maybe take it up after class).
TSR need to be established early and well: sometimes challenging students test boundaries based on the teacher. Hence, its important for all teachers to speak the same language.

Teacher approach - Challenging students pick and choose teachers that they can be difficult with. Hence, it is important for all teachers to speak the same language.
Building a strong TSR: challenging students often need that guidance and feel misunderstood. Establishing a fine balance between providing support and maintaining discipline is essential.
Do not single students out - make sure that during the lesson, if there are disruptions/challenges, try to diffuse the situation. Then, take it up after the lesson instead.

Sec 1 G1 Math - Clear routines and structure - point systems with a chart on the white board, acc to rows.

e.g lesson materials on the table - 0 point for anyone who doesn't bring any material, if all bring and reach a number of points, teacher will buy them a reward.

Competition among students help to motivate.

Sec 4A1 - meting out consequences e.g to stand if student is late for school, but requires clear explanation of rationale.

Sec 4E Higher MT - students who come late will need to present the next day.

PE: Reward students who come early, like 2-3 mins of playing with the ball sports
