Will all students understand the lesson the first time?

This lesson will be structured with multiple learning modalities such as visual, auditory and kinesthetic aspects in order to try and help students to really absorb and engage with the material. It is also helpful that the technology aspects such as the video and games can be replayed whenever needed. Thus, if they do not understand the first time the resources for them to review with are easily at their disposal.

Will you need differentiation?

Yes, differentiation is always necessary when dealing with children since each child learns differently and may have specific needs that must be addressed in order for them to learn the material. In terms of this lesson, the pace with utilizing the technology such as the video and game on shapes, students can re-watch or play at their own pace. However, when students go to work on the concept activity, they may need the extra support of a teacher or a modified activity in order to help them properly access the curriculum.

Will you need alternative ways to teach the lesson?

In terms of teaching the lesson in alternative ways, I do not think I would have to completely change the way the lesson is taught, but modify it where necessary to meet a students needs. For example, when talking about a shape's side, I should have the definition of what a side is along with a visual aid showing what a side may look like on a shape. The visual and written portion may help an Emergent Bilingual student or a visual learner to better understand the definition. Thus, I do not think I need another alternative way to teach the lesson. I just need to be able to adjust it to fit each student's needs.
