Chat GPT

USA

It was a fairly good negotiation but I feel like AI was asking for some very numerical and law things that I did not have on hand and I felt was complicating the negotiation. I feel that to emprove this prompt is to make AI more in the same negotiation level as me because it looked like in the negotiation that AI was negotiating against me with 10 pages of information about what the negotiation was about and I had a paragraphs worth so it looked very uneven in a fairness perspective.

I also found great that we could pick a difficulty in order to practice in distinct levels of escenarios and combinations with the countries. Another suggestion is that the options on possible escenarios that we can choose I believe are limited and adding 2 or 3 more can give an more broad experience.

Platform - ChatGPT

In general, I think the platform helped me understand and frame the situation accordingly, which helped me grasp my goals and strategy that would lead me to a positive solution to the negotiation. Additionally, it helped me adapt to a completely different culture, and the feedback allowed me identify the weak points that created tension during the negotiation so that I can avoid repeating them in the future. Overall, I think the experience helped me get an idea of how an intercultural negotiation might be like while following a structured guideline.

I learned the importance of patience, respect, and harmony when negotiating with Japanese counterparts, also the silence is not a lack of interest, it’s like a sign of reflection. Building trust gradually is more valued than closing a deal fast.

Suggestion - The prompt could include a short post meeting, such as writing a follow up email or summary, to make it even more realistic.

I really liked it because it gave me valuable context about how Chinese people approach negotiation and how to adapt accordingly. For example, it explained that Chinese negotiators often avoid saying 'no' directly, so I had to learn to read between the lines and understand their subtle cues. This insight helped me better appreciate the cultural nuances involved in negotiation, making the experience both educational and engaging. Overall, I think it was a very good and insightful experience that will help me in future interactions.

I was able to clearly present my product and maintain a respectful and professional attitude throughout the meeting. I think I handled the cultural differences from Japan with patience, especially when my counterpart used silence and indirect communication. It helped me understand that in Japanese culture, taking time to think and avoiding direct confrontation are important signs of respect.

To improve this prompt I do believe more than 10 interactions are needed in order to get a better outcome, and also have a follow up at the end.

It was great, the prompt helped a lot. the AI set the scene and tone very well and did a good job guiding me through the process as well. I do think it moved very slowly and I kept thinking about the limit of 10 interactions but I'm assuming this is part of the characterization of the italian customs of taking more time to build a relationship. So this just makes me agree more on the fact that the AI did a pretty good job acting as an italian negotiator.

I liked how the scenario gave me a clear role and specific goals, like my target price and resistance point. Knowing I was a Canadian project manager meeting a Brazilian director made it feel realistic from the start.

I think the negotiation ended a bit too quickly. Having a few more exchanges would allow me to try different tactics, especially after receiving feedback within the role-play itself. For example, after seeing his reaction to my direct style, I would have liked a chance to adjust my approach and try to save the discussion.

The option to choose the country and scenario was very useful. To make it even better, perhaps more specific industry scenarios could be added, like negotiating a joint venture or resolving a supply chain dispute. This would help practice applying these skills in different business contexts. Overall, it was a very insightful practice that highlighted the importance of cultural adaptation in real time.

In this intercultural negotiation practice, I used CHATGPT to simulate a business negotiation with a Japanese counterpart. It was very interesting to interact with another culture and see how communication and values can be so different. I learned that when dealing with other cultures, it’s important to control our impulsiveness, listen carefully, and show respect in every part of the process. Only then can both sides truly understand each other and reach a respectful agreement.
I think the prompt works really well because it feels realistic and helps you understand how cultural differences affect negotiation. Maybe one small improvement could be adding more emotional or unexpected reactions from the counterpart, so it feels even more like a real situation.

The AI performed well, presenting a clear and professional counterpart. However, I found the negotiation relatively straightforward it did not feel especially challenging. While I achieved the objectives I had set for the negotiation, I would have preferred if the AI had taken a more complex or dynamic role, introducing unexpected objections, alternative proposals, or more nuanced responses. This would have provided a more realistic sense and allowed me to further develop adaptive strategies under pressure.

Even though it was a bit challenging at first, I really liked how the simulation let me try different strategies and instantly see how they worked. This AI answered to everything I said in a coherent way, there was not a dialogue I felt had nothing to do with what I was saying which helped have a smooth negotiation process. The dialogue felt realistic too with the Brazilian culture. I felt it was easy to adjust to the culture as the AI was telling me some things about what Brazilians value and asked me how I could offer it, it really gave me space to think about how I could adjust instead of just getting immediately rejected for not meeting their standards at first. It helped me have a taste of what it's like talking with someone from another culture in terms of negotiations in a quick and accesable way. I would make it last longer tho, I feel we barely had a proper talk about what the deal is about, ended too soon.

ChatGPT

Mexico vs China

I had a great negotiating experience, and got most of the goals that I set. I think that overall it is a great way of practicing negotiation cases with different cultures and getting personalized feedback of it. I like how the AI recreated the scenario and followed the roleplay. However, as this is only made via text, it leaves behind other factors like gestures or nonverbal cues that are crucial during a negotiation.

Platform: Chat GPT

Country: South Korea

General experience: In this negotiation with Mr. Park from South Korea, I learned that respect, patience, and formality are essential to building trust. I kept a polite and cooperative tone, focusing on a long-term relationship instead of rushing to close the deal. When he asked to lower the price, I offered extra benefits instead, which showed flexibility and helped maintain harmony.

This experience taught me that Korean negotiators value indirect communication, collective decisions, and mutual trust. Overall, I felt that adapting my communication style and showing genuine respect made the negotiation more effective and culturally appropriate.

Mexico vs. Germany.

I used ChatGPT. The experience was formal, logical, and very focused on evidence. I realized how different communication styles can shape the entire process.

As for improving the prompt, I would suggest adding a short briefing on the cultural expectations before starting the role play, just a few bullet points about the style of communication, preferred structure, and what to avoid.

JAPAN

Perplexity

After finishing this activity I really enjoy it because its something different and its the most closest I have been to negotiate with a Japanese person right now , probably the result I got was not what I expected but it help me to have a better knowledge of how Japanese negotiate considering they are one of the best negotiators in this world , what I think I didn't perform right was on doing the negotiation a little bit faster , In Japanese business negotiations harmony and patience is very important, and communication tends to be indirect and formal. A consideration I would use next time when I negotiate with a Japanese might be considering starting with a concise, respectful greeting and a little introduction of my service

IA follow the instructions of the pompt in the correct way, and give enough space to negotiate about different persepectives.

I likes that at the end it gave me feedback of what I did correct and what I can modify to have better results.

It was a great experience.

Model - Chat GPT (5)

Country - Germany

At first, the AI negotiator was highly disapproving of my pitch, as it included a lot of information but lacked concrete data such as numbers and case studies to justify my pricing strategy. The model’s initial response came across as quite condescending, and I pointed out that if it truly wanted to reach a mutually beneficial agreement, it should avoid that kind of tone. This was a major risk, as a German businessman would likely not appreciate such a remark and could have walked away. Fortunately, the risk paid off, the model apologized, and from that point on the negotiation flowed smoothly. All I needed to do was provide real-world data from the internet to appeal to the German model’s fact and statistics-based mindset. I did not concede anything; instead, I added the training valued at 5,000 USD while keeping the total price at my goal of 85,000 over a three-year period. The only clause on his side was a renegotiation option after the first year if savings fell below 5 percent, which was highly unlikely.

I enjoyed the experience within the activity very well. At first it was very confusing to try and adapt to the discussed scanerio at term but later on once I understood what we were gambling I caught controll over the deal. I think it is very important to know that when dealing with this kind of culture you have to be calm and listen and all before hand keep a good actitude when dealing with Saudi's , I think we reached a very clear in integrative negotiation, I targetted possible concecions first before throwing out the important numbers which I was given a greenlight as feedback from the Ai . Even though we finished the case with needing time to consider on their behave He was very charismatic and agreed upon a partnership with me.
