Before we start our discussion, I never knew about our monetary system as I never made any research or read about that. Plus, I think it is not important for me to know about that as I am not even in that field of study. But, after we discuss about it in class, I knew that Bank Negara Malaysia is following the Jewish Monetary System which is haram as it is contains riba’. But, all this time, I just use the money without even thinking either it is halal or haram. Also, after discussing, I wonder, is it okay for us to use the money? This point triggered me the most as I feel aggrieved that I never concern about my country’s economy and financial as for me it is boring. Even though the news about economy, which is Detik Niaga, is live every day in TV3, I never watched it as I think I wouldn’t even understand it. But, as a result of the discussion in class, every day, I will force myself to read at least an article on website Buletin TV3 to know what is happening inside and outside my country.

Before class, I thought our government followed laws made by Malaysia. But actually, I found out that they're following international laws (man-made laws), which is, of course, it is not based on the Quran. I thought we just followed certain international laws such as WHO and UN. But it turns out most of our laws are made based on the order of the international.
I think, at this moment, we cannot do anything to change the laws that Malaysia already followed for years. Even though the society vote for the Islamic PM that has been applied the characteristic of Islam, we cannot do anything. This is because the Malaysian government is bound by international law such as the UN, and member states cannot withdraw from UN unless there is a fundamental change that takes place such as when the object of the agreement is disputed.

If we look back to the flood cases that happened in Shah Alam, especially on Taman Sri Muda on the past December, it was one of the worst and unexpected floods happened. From this issue, many people blamed the government because of their late action to help the victim during the flood. Yes, the government was taking late action in helping the victim. But I think it is unfair to just blame only one side. Because the cause of this flood is from the individual itself. The flood happened in Taman Sri Muda was happened because the clogged drain, and of course it was made by the individual. So, we shouldn’t be silo by blaming only one side and should see the problem from each side.
