What are the processes involved in data collection? How knowledgeable was I about such processes? I did have prior knowledge of primary and secondary sources of information and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Therefore this section was not new to me but it did refresh and enhance what I already knew. The issue of choosing the right data collection method was made clear to me as I understand that the quality of the data collected depends on it.Imagine what would happen if the right method is not chosen and the consequences this can have for the entire research? This could be very costly for the researcher and organization. Moreover, with the help of the videos I got a better grasp of triangulation and what it really entails.I have heard about it before but I did not know the types of triangulation that exists. The highlight of this week's reading was Management of Field Work. This section was captivating as the information provided was new to me and it also gave me an idea of what will be expected of me if afforded the opportunity to become a fieldworker. I was now aware that such a task carried much responsibility and that the fieldworker if he or she does not exercise caution could affect the research carried out.One of the qualities of a fieldworker that stuck with me is honesty and integrity. This is an essential quality as it determines how the fieldworker handles data collected and also reports such data to the researcher. This is critical to ensuring limited errors during the study. This week definitely shed some light on important matters in research.
