Studying Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, I believe, is important because it tells us the not judge a person by their looks or the things you've heard about them, but what you know about them personally. I believe that the lesson of not judging a book by its cover or a person by their name is very relevant, everyone does this in today's society by judging a person by the way they look and calling them mean things. The same goes for a name. An example is some people hating on celebrities by what they have heard and judging them based on appearance, without even knowing the person. The Montegues and the Capulets own an ongoing feud and this effects they way they perceive all Montegues even if they barely know them, even if their heart is pure and so are their intentions, the feud clouds their judgement. Juliet speaks ontop of her balcony proclaiming: "what's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet." She is emphasising how whilst her father, nurse and mother may judge Romeo based on his name she judges Romeo based on his heart, and even when the name is revealed her love for him is just as powerful as before.

I believe that it is important to study Shakespeare's work in today's society as he has made a huge contribution to the English language and this is shown through his plays and poetry which he had created many of these include words to describe emotions and how a person is feeling , such as love .

He teaches us this things that are still relevant today such as love and how people over come it or even how people react when in this position of feeling in love . This theme is projected through many of Shakespeare's work and plays an example being when Romeo says " This fight has a lot to do with hatred, but it has more to do with love. O brawling love! O loving hate! Love that comes from nothing! Sad happiness! Serious foolishness! Beautiful things muddled together into an ugly mess! Love is heavy and light, bright and dark, hot and cold, sick and healthy, asleep and awake—it’s everything except what it is! This is the love I feel, though no one loves me back.

Studying Shakespeare is important in today's society, as it can relate to mulitple important factors in our lives; one of which consists of love. Shakespeare teaches us about true love which can be found in our lives. It can teach us about how to properly treat the ones we love, the feelings of true love and the sacrifices which you would make for your one true love. Love is an important theme throughout Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet" as it is the story of the two unlikeliest of lovers, proclaiming their love for eachother, disregarding the fact that their families are sworn enemies. They found love within eachother, and with that they based their decisions. From this, we can interpret the idea that true love can cause you to do anything at the time, as you believe your life is with this one person. We can learn the true, loyal and kind way which people should treat their loved ones. Act 2, scene 1: "how can I go forward when my heart is here?" said by Romeo, as he was leaving the Caoulet's party, where he originally stated that he loved Juliet and did not wish to be parted from her. This shows an act of love. Act 2, scene 2: "Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love" said by Juliet, meaning 'Or if you will not, only promise to be my love" as she would say to Romeo, wishing for him to be her only love.

Society today can be taught lessons through things such as love and kindness that is within some of Shakespeare's work, if you love someone and show kindness and respect them you will be able to earn that same respect and love back.
Conflict and Violence is a theme that can relate in today's society. This theme is shown so passionately through characters such as Capulet and Montague. their families as well as themselves have been fighting before they were even born.

Studying Shakespeare in today's society is important as it educates young readers about the use of language used in Shakespeare's time. The language is relatively hard to understand and it helps students now with their learning. It is relevant to study Shakespeare because in his plays, there are many themes that relate to what happens in our society today. 'Love' is the most important theme in his play, 'Romeo and Juliet'. This is shown through a quote that Romeo says about Juliet. He sees her for the first time and instantly fell in love with her. 'Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.' He is basically saying that his eyes were liars, then, because he had never saw true beauty before that night at the ball. Rhyme is used with the words sight and night.

Allowing Shakespeare to be studied in schools will increase our knowledge and understanding for how real life situations occur and the consequences for them. It shows us different and general morals for everyday life. It also provides as with what people's way of thinking was in Shakespeare's time, for example the way they spoke or even there actions and beliefs towards society and living. Relating to a theme that can encourage us with a good understating of life is the theme of love. This theme really connects with all of the characters, however Romeo and Juliet stood out the most, as they constantly express there love for each other. This informs us that love brings happiness within people's hearts. The quote, " By love, that first did prompt me to inquire.

He lent me counsel and I lent him eyes."- Romeo. He is emphasising how love can indicate the truth of what happiness truely means and to Romeo Juliet is his true passion and happiness.

This theme is evident throughout the whole play which continues its teachings on the theme, an example of this theme during the play is in act one, scene five when Romeo is professing his love for Juliet. Allowing schools to study shakespeare increases our knowledge of love which is common in everyday life. During the play we are shown tragic love when Juliet wakes and finds her lover dead, she happily wants to die " Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die." Juliet stabs herself with Romeo's dagger and dies. This scene shows how deeply Juliet and Romeo loved each other, they both sacrificed their lives for love.

Shakespear is important to learn because he is like a teacher he gives us lessons about life in his own ways by putting them into plays and books.

It is important to read plays of English History. 'Romeo and Juliet' specifically teaches us about how tragic love can be. In society today, love is seen as something really casual, and people don't see the risk and possible tragedy of falling in love with out thinking it through. It also helps us understand why communicating properly is so important. The play teaches us a number is lessons. One being that violence and fighting doesn't resolve any conflict. The Capulets and the Montague fought and people died, but nothing came of it. Also, similarly, there is no need to continue past conflicts between people and families. There is also the theme of tragedy. The tragedy of the message not getting to Romeo in time about Juliet faking her death, changed the whole course of the play. This can also relate to teaching us that events sometimes have to be carried out by a certain time. The theme of love is also present through out the play. Romeo and Juliet fell in love starught away, possibly with out thinking it through properly. The quote "Can I go forward when my heart is here" -Romeo (Act 2 Scene 1), relates to Romeo leaving his heart with Juliet, but only just after they met. It also gives us the tragedy of characters being stuck and not knowing what to do.
