The [nationality/civilisation] were the first people recorded in history to own [noun of animal]. It was a practice kept only by their royalty. However, in recent years, this practice has suddenly gained in popularity ever since [name of celebrity] started the trend of ownership on [name of social media]. Ladies and Gentlemen, this member believes that it's time to stop this barbaric practice. I can give you three good reasons why we must make the ownership of [noun of animal] illegal.

Firstly, this practice of owning [noun of animal] as a pet is cruel. [Noun of animal] requires lots of [noun of food] and [noun of food]. None of which can be easily provided for. This is why [number between 1 to 100] % of [noun of animal] in captivity are deemed malnourished and underfed by PETA. [noun of animal] also typically needs to [verb] [number] kilometers every day. Unless the owner is willing to go the extra mile to provide space for these creatures to [same verb as above], these creatures will never gain the same level of exercise as their wild brethren. This increases their stress levels which is exemplified by their unusual behavior of [describe an action]. Something that is rarely seen in their wild counterparts. Hence, we should ban the ownership of [noun of animal] on the grounds of cruelty.

Secondly, we should ban this practice because owning [noun of animal] harms the owner themselves. [Noun of animal] secretes a sweet smell from its [body part]. Although many have likened it to perfume, it is far from safe as perfume. Scientists have [adverb] discovered that these smell molecules contain a high dosage of [name of fictional element]. Prolonged exposure could lead to the development of cancerous cells in [body part]. Experts estimate [number] people have died because of owning [noun of animal]. Fellow house members, we have banned the use of [toxic item] before. So why should we tolerate letting this dangerous being [same verb as above] around our homes, interacting with our [common noun of family member]? Banning the ownership of [noun of animal] will save countless lives in the long run.

Thirdly, and most saliently, the sale and trafficking of [noun of animal] has fueled [organisation’s] rapid rise. An investigation done by [name of news organization], found that [number between 1 to 100] of [noun of animal] sold as pets originated from illegal breeding facilities owned by [same name of organization as above]. This has brought in huge sums of revenue for them estimated around [number] million [currency]. This organization uses illicit revenue to fund the [name of movement] around the world. By banning the ownership of [noun of animal], we can cut off their source of funding and hinder whatever nefarious plans they have.

In conclusion, I hope this house will support this motion to ban the ownership of [noun of animal].

Privacy is as obsolete as [very old technology] and overrated like [overplayed pop song]. You don’t need a university degree to find out that in today’s [adjective] world, privacy is held in very little regard. Whether it’s a picture of your [noun of something private] on [social media platform] or a rant about [a subject matter you find funny], we announce our day to day lives to the world. Even in respect to utility, in the modern era, privacy is an outdated concept for the following reasons:

Firstly, a world without privacy makes life more convenient. Owing to modern technology, we have traded privacy for [positive adjective] benefits that have allowed us to defy mortal limits and become more efficient than a [your favourite home appliance]. Think about [popular device]: it tracks your [bodily function], predicts your [brand] purchases, knows when you are [verb]! By forfeiting privacy, the [popular device] can level-up your life by suggesting ingenious next steps , such as [verb]. Imagine having to use an old-school method, like consulting a [someone or a profession you think would give really bad advice], to decide if you want to [same as previous verb]. As inconvenient as a [something you find inconvenient], isn’t it?

Secondly, we now live in an era where people advocate for more honest content. Privacy is as useless as a [something oddly specific you could likely find in Daiso] in comparison to the impact sincere stories can have in defeating artificiality online. For a greater good, [social media platform] users must sacrifice some of the privacy they seek over [embarrassing personal detail] by disclosing it transparently. Especially since doing so will help show their audiences that social media often does not reflect reality, and that [famous person] is actually a [noun]. Our ideas about privacy need to catch up to the shifting values of modern times.

Thirdly, privacy keeps us more distant than we need to be. Imagine if [historical figure] had live-streamed their life; we would get to know how they feel about [a question that you want answered] and would be able to connect with them on a deeper level. We’d appreciate how [adjective relating to someone being cool] they are, and find ourselves more connected to [same historical figure as before], who shares their life more candidly with us. Privacy is the roadblock to achieving this for future generation [greek alphabet], as [noun] is to [a cool situation that you think is impossible]!

Opposition may argue that privacy is needed to protect people. However, what is there, really, to hide? You may have once [verb related to an embarrassing action] at [location] in [random country], but what harm would knowing that cause to society? Transparency makes us relatable and as awesome as a person who knows the meaning of [a fancy word with at least 3 syllables]. Building a down-to-earth society where we can all be chill guys is important to community-building.

Hence, this house supports the idea that privacy is an outdated concept.

1 Shakespeare once wrote “You speak a/an [adjective] deal of nothing.” -- and he would be right, if he was talking about himself.

2 Culture is a divine [noun] to the derelict [profession/type of person/name], it imbues humanity’s sad days spent [verb related to your favourite hobby] with zest, glitter, and the extravaganza of a [animal noun] in a tutu. Without culture, humanity would just be [animal you find scary]s who spend [number] hours a day doing [noun for your least favourite activity]. Thus, it absolutely pains me that the average [noun]s that populate humanity conflate culture with age, choosing the [adjective you would use to describe a 3-day old pile of vomit] over the great [profession you admire], [famous person].

3 Culture can be contributed to in 2 main ways: [1] Arts and [2] Social Progress – in all of which, [famous person] has been [verb describing something you do to someone] Shakespeare in.

4 In terms of Arts, [famous person], unlike Shakespeare, has passed [stage of education] English and can cogently [verb related to communication] their profound feelings related to [something you imagine famous person would be passionate about] to [a category of people]. They have created numerous heart-rending [media you would read on the bus ride back home] and the most reliable newsite in the world [social media platform] frequently reports on the [number] lives their work has saved.

5 On the other [body part], Shakespeare would not be able to pass a basic SMU Writing and Research class and would cause his Prof [Excuse to put on your MC]s with inane exclamations like [Old English pronoun] [obselete object]! Decidedly, [famous person] is the greatest artist in the world, with their [media you would read on the bus ride back home] demonstrating the immense scale of their artistic impact.

6 Further, [Gen Z slang for a group of people], it is absolute [noun relating to nonsense] that Shakespeare can be argued to have contributed to social progress when he is a white European man whose works contain no mention of disadvantaged peoples like [your least favourite sports team] and social causes like the ‘Fix [a problem that has been troubling you lately] Issues’ movement.

7 On the other hand, [famous person] donates [number] dollars to charities monthly and has produced more than simple art. They have partnered with [brand] to create [an object that reminds you of famous person], revolutionising the way we live our lives. The fact that [famous person] has made purposeful and calculated efforts to improve societal progress means that [famous person] is certifiably [positive superlative].

8 To sum up, [famous person] has definitely contributed more to culture than Shakespeare.
