For the classes i was observing, N2 and PG, i noticed how the classroom is filled with pictures and artworks of the children . The colours used in these classes are also not too overwhelming nor overstimulating. The classrooms are also filled with baskets and toys that the children could take on their own during certain activities. The PG class was bigger than the N2 class. The classrooms are also divided into different sections eg. Library corner and calm corner

All the classes start their mornings with a morning exercise by dancing to songs. For N1, they had music and movement lessons on both days that I was with them. The N1 class also had an earlier lunch and an earlier nap time compared to the N2 class. There are also frequent toilet breaks and especially for the N1 class, the teachers will sometimes stop children in the middle of their activities to ask if they would like to go to the toilet or say that they would have to change their diapers.

I also observed that children learn mainly through play. Both classes of children had allocated time to play on their own with the learning corner activities. Some groups were facilitated by the teachers, but most of the time, the children played by themselves.

She validated and respected the child's feelings by saying that.

Reciprocal: The teachers listened to the children's opinions and answers and said 'thank you' to the children or 'well done' whenever they answered.

Respectful: The teachers always let the children know a few minutes in advance that they were going to move on to another activity, and told them about what was going to happen next. There are also live animals, I saw terrapins in both the N1 and N2 classes. In each area there are also cupboards with teachers' items. The N2 class had tables and chairs but the N1 class did not. Both classes had library corners also. The floors all had stickers to indicate where children should be. The N1 class had stickers with their names and faces on it, the N2 class had normal stickers that just said 'sit here'.

During story time, the educator will really take the time to acknowledge the children’s responses and the cues the children give etc needing help with their hair ties, needing any help in general.

Reciprocal: I observed that the educators do give the same energy back to children even if most times the playgroup children are just sitted down, not really responding and enthusiastic, the educators will still give out a lot of cheerful energy for children to stay engaged and to absorb the lesson, interaction or activity.

Respectful:
Whenever children will have a next lesson or change of activity, the teachers announce what the activity it will be and how many minutes they have left before changing to the next activity. This allows children to know what is next and allows them to be ready for the current activity to end. This is a respectful practice for children as they are given time to finish up whatever they are doing at the moment and not abruptly telling them to stop what they are doing without notice.
