The purpose of Blurryface was to show Tyler's "bad side" all of his doubts, fears, and self-loathing. the doubts/insecurity aspect of him which makes him care too much about what people think of him. Joseph uses his popularity in the music industry to try to show others that "its okay to not be okay" as he tries to make it so people that are having troubles in their lives will know that in the long run they will get through it.

One of the main things Twenty One Pilots are well known for are their creative lyrics. Written by both Joseph and partner Josh Dun they write their lyrics based on old poems they've written in the past and life events they are going through. Joseph is well known for creating characters ( ex ; blurryface ) to go behind the meanings of the music. Tyler has spoken many times about how he creates the music he saying that he takes step by step procedures of writing out a whole story behind the lyrics to make sure none of his songs are just pointless, meaningless, words thrown together.

WHAT IS TWENTY ONE PILOTS?

Twenty one pilots was created in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio by Joseph. He came up with the name "Twenty One Pilots" while studying a play called "All my sons" by Arthur Miller which is about a man trying to figure out what is best for his family after causing the death of twenty one pilots during World War II when he sent them faulty parts, knowingly, for the good of his business. Joseph has said that the moral dilemma of that was the inspiration for the band name he created. To begin the band he reached out to high school friends Nick Thomas and Chris Salih. December 29th of 2009 was the day that they released their first debut album, self titled, Twenty one pilots. After 2 years of touring in mid 2011 Thomas and Salih decided to leave the band due to their "busy schedules." With that leaving Joseph alone he reached out to Josh Dun who soon became the new member for the band. In 2011 the duo released their second album Regional at best and soon after signed with Atlantic Records (Fueled by Ramen) Since then the duo have also released 2 more albums, Vessel ( January 8th, 2013) and Blurryface ( May 17th, 2015)

As a child Tyler was told that it was most likely he wasn't going to do anything or amount to anything in his life, he was even told by teachers that he was most likely not even going to finish school. (told to him in elementary school which was the reason he got home schooled) and thats when he decided at such a young age he was going to shape up and prove to everyone that he was going to do something with his life and make a difference in others. After being home schooled for 3 years Joseph started high school and brought up his grades to a new high and joined as many extra curricular classes and groups he could to get involved with others at his school. He kept playing basketball to try to make his father proud but in 2009 he decided to focus on something he felt was important to him and would make him happy, he created the band twenty one pilots.
