In Christianity, Churches are the Holy place of worship. The people who lead the service can be Minister, a Pastor or a Priest. Normally, the most important day to go church is on Sundays. On Sunday, the Holy communion is celebrated. Some people only go once or twice a year. Prayer is said at every worship service, out loud or in silent. Christians recite the Nicene Creed to show belief in Trinity, the resurrection of Jesus and Salvation.

Christmas is a holiday to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It begins with Jesus's parents traveling to Bethlehem. The mother, Mary, gave birth to Jesus on that day. When he was born, angels appeared in the sky saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, goodwill toward men." Today to celebrate Christmas, many families go to Church and retell the story of Jesus.

Christianity began in the Middle East. Jesus was the founder of Christianity and was a Jew. Historians believe Jesus was born in 6 B.C.E. Christianity started to spread across Europe after Jesus. Christianity is now the most widespread of the world’s major faiths. ⅓ of the world is Christian. Now, the majority of people in Southwest Asia follow Islam. There are several different groups of Christians. All have different views on Christianity.

Holy Communion is a kind of sacrament and it reenacts Jesus breaking bread and sharing wine before the day of His death. Also, Holy Communion is central to Christian worship. The New Testament says that Jesus started his sacrament at the Last Supper-(Jesus last meal with his followers before the Romans arrested him.) Jesus gave the bread to his disciples, saying “This is my body.” He poured them wine, saying “This is my blood.” Jesus told his followers to practice his sacrament in remembrance of him. The bread symbolises the body of Jesus and the wine as his blood. All Christians believe that the presence and power of Christ is conveyed through the sacrament of Holy Communion.

Easter celebrates the day that Jesus was said to have risen from the dead. Christians believe it is the most important holiday. Lent is celebrated to show how Jesus fasted when he was in the wilderness. In the past, many people who celebrated Easter gave up foods such as meat or sugar. Today many people who celebrate the holiday give up food they enjoy. The last week of Lent is called the Holy Week. It marks the week Jesus arrived in Jerusalem and since Jesus was Jewish, he celebrated passover during the time he was in Jerusalem. According to the Gospels, when Jesus came to Jerusalem, the crowd lined the path with palm branches. On Palm Sunday, christians wear crosses made from palm leaves. Good Friday ends the week. It symbolizes the day Jesus was sacrificed on a cross. Most churches have services on that day to mourn the suffering and death of Jesus. Easter Sunday is a happy holiday that symbolizes Jesus coming back from the dead.

The Bible includes Gospels, which are teachings of Jesus. Romans feared he would lead a revolt after going to Jerusalem for Jews. As a result, they executed him. Back then, a common form of execution was to be tied or nailed to cross until they died which is known as getting crucified. The cross is now a symbol of Christianity. After Jesus died, Christians believe he rose from the dead before going to heaven with God. This is known as resurrection. When in Heaven, God would decide who would be saved from good and evil. This is called Salvation.

Christians see it as central to their identity as members of the Christian community. The new testament says that Jesus himself was baptized in the Jordan river by John the Baptist before he started his preaching.
