In the process of creating circulose they take the pieces of clothing that are being re-used and use a recovery system to extract the cellulose and create a pulp-like textured material. This material is then used to make regenerated fibers like rayon, the fibers are then spun into different yarns (and other similar material) then made into textile fabric.

FAQ – Circulose

One brand that is using circulose in their products is Levi's. They ran a line of their 501 jeans in 2022 with pairs made from circulose material that had been made into denim.

“Now we’re taking that innovation and applying it to what could rightly be called the most iconic garment in all of apparel, the 501, which shows how serious we are about moving in the direction of circularity. Not only will our circular 501 jeans be designed to stand the test of time, just as they always have been, but they’ll also be able to find a second, third or fourth life as new garments.”

― Paul Dillinger, VP of Design Innovation at Levi’s

LEVI’S ― MADE WITH CIRCULOSE® – Circulose
