- Walt Disney and his brother (Roy) made up Mickey and Minnie mouse.

1929- December 16= 'Walt Disney Studio' replaced by 'Walt Disney Productions, Ltd'. Companies 'Walt Disney Enterprises', 'Disney Film Recording Company' and 'Liled Realty and Invesment Company' are also formed.

1930- Distribution moved to Colombia Pictures.

1932- Distribution moved to United Artists (from Colombia Pictures).

1936- Distribution moved to RKO Radio Pictures (from United Artists).

1937- First film was released; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.


1938- September 29= 'Walt Disney Enterprises', 'Disney Film Recording Company', and 'Liled Realty and Investment Company' and 'Walt Disney Productions, Ltd.' are all combined together to create 'WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS'.

1940- Company becomes public and the studio moves to California.

1941- Studio starts making morale-boosting propaganda for the USA during WW2.

1944- Company is short on money, so a theatrical re-release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs generates revenue.

In 1923 Disney signed signed a contract with M.J Winkler to make a series called Alice Comedies. When they made this agreement the The current company was still under its original name Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. Below is an image of Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney.

Walt Disney

Walt Disney was an animator and entrepreneur who revolutionized the film industry. He introduced advents such as technicolor and was instrumental to the creation and development of the Disney emblem of Micky Mouse. Some of Disney's early successes include Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Fantasia. Disney was said to be of modest and shy character. He had high standards and expected this of all who worked with him, and although his reputation was somewhat sullied by accusations of anti-Semitic and racist views, such characteristics are denied by people who knew him well.

Roy O Disney

Walt Disney's brother, Roy O. Disney was Walt Disney's business partner. When Walt Disney moved to Hollywood, both founded the Disney Brothers Studio, in 1923. Although, Walt was more creative, Roy was more on the financial side of things, which could be attributed to his experience as a banker. Roy became the first official CEO of the Walt Disney Company and was involved in much of the main facets of the company. Following his brother's death, Roy decided to abandoned, started to focus more of the creative side of the company.
