The Office of Price Administration was established for emergency management of the US Government on August 28th, 1941. The purpose of the Office of Price Administration was to control the money after the outbreak of World War 2. The OPA fought inflation by freezing on goods, wages, and rent. People would frequently go around from household to household giving coupons to families to be used to buy any goods that they needed. There were two different OPA tokens, a blue and a red. The red was for buying meats and fats, the blue was for buying any processed foods.

During World War 2, all Americans were asked to make sacrifices in many different ways and rationing was one of those ways. There were supplies like gasoline, butter, sugar, and caned milk that were rationed because they had to be diverted to the war. Rationing lasted about 14 years in Britain. It even continued after the war ended. Meat rationing continued for 10 years after D-day. Rationing actually didn't effect people too much. With everyone being restricted to buying certain amounts of goods it basically taught people to share and cooperate with each other.
