despite moving to a democratic system, there are still sines of the communist regime in Russia today. The president is seemingly just a figure for public acknowledgment while the real power lies in the hands of the Russian mob; the Russian mob controls: media, government and the popular opinion of the nation.

Communist Russia was completely controlled by a dictator, and even though the people were supposed to have a say, they couldn't even build a hotel properly without questioning Stalin. The new Russia is supposed to be democratic, but their media is still very biased, and their "president" still acts like a dictator in many situations.

Indeed. It is inevitable that as time passes, everything morphs into anew, whether it be by force or through experience; meanwhile other ideals prevail. There is still a bulwark stance on censorship, and still a pungent remain of communist ideals.

There are some noticeable differences between Russia from then and now. Some differences between them are that when Russia was communist, they had been ruled by a dictator who would take control of the people. Whenever someone would go against him and his ideals, there would be consequences for them. On the other hand, Russia is shown to be as a democratic nation rather than a communist one, however it doesn't seem like that.

Even though Russia is no longer a communist nation after it was banned by Boris Yeltsin in 1991, there exists a political party called the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. It is very popular with a 40% up-vote so even though Russia is now a democracy, it is possible for communism to return in Russia.
