Peregrine Falcons live mostly on tall buildings in cities, but they dig their aeries on escarpments, or cliffs. Usually the Peregrines choose an escarpment near a lake or river.
Even though Peregrines live mostly in cities, they can also live in deserts, the tropics, and the tundra. Pergrines can be found on every continent except for Antarctica.

Peregrines mostly eat other birds. Some of them are larger than the Peregrine, such as Herons, Pidgeons, and Ducks. When their prey is scarce, Peregrines sometimes eat frogs or rabbits. The predators of the Peregrine are owls and snakes, who sometimes eat the Peregrine's eggs when the adult Peregrines are gone.

Female Peregrines usually lay 2-5 eggs, and they lay one of those eggs a day. Incubation is the process of sitting on the egg until it hatches, and it lasts about 36 days from the day the egg was hatched. There is almost always an adult Peregrine sitting on an egg during incubation. Once an eyase is hatched, they weigh about 1.5 ounces, and most eyases are fully grown by 6 weeks.

Peregrines have streamlined bodies and small heads, which makes it very easy to fly. Peregrines have long, pointed wings, black malar stripes, and a black head. Peregrines also have very sharp talons which help them hunt. Peregrines can weigh anything from 19 ounces to 57 ounces, and their winspan is usually 40-45 inches.

Peregrines usually wait on a ledge while looking for prey. When they spot prey, the Peregrines dive towards their prey, and they catch it in midair. Next, they slam it with their talons to stun it. Last, they use their talons to sever the neck and kill it.

In 1947, people started using DDT as a pesticide to kill insects that damage crops. Scientists didn't realize that DDT harmed other animals, such as the falcon. The DDT started to make the Peregrine's eggs so thin that they cracked during incubation. This made the Peregrines nearly go extinct. But once DDT was banned in 1972, the Peregrines made a comeback. From 1980-1990, the number of pairs of Peregrines in North America tripled from 499 to 1550. Today, Peregrines are not endangered.
