Women had to move to the front lines to help the injured men and treat them. This was a positive impact as women could now be more involved in the war. Women were not allowed to take any part in the frontlines before but now they were at least allowed to help.
Nurses became a profession, trained nurses were paid. Some women served as Royal Australian Navy Nurses, or in organisations such as Red Cross.

After the war when the men returned women’s football was banned by government for the reason of “it was dangerous for women to play “ but the real reason being it was becoming a threat to the popularity of mens football. This is a negative affect as women could no longer play sports for many years.

Women proved that they were able to work just as hard as men which opened them up for future job roles once the war was over

Many women also worked in munitions factories due to shell shortages. Even after taking on these roles, some women were still paid half of what the men were made.
