We were first assigned to groups. The group thoroughly researched the definition and synonyms for the word “equality”. In addition, each person on our group shared their point of view on equality. We were able to come up with a few synonyms such as “balance”, “same”, and “equal”. As of today, however, the new ideal that has been inspired by the American ideal of equality, is “fairness”. Our top choices were harmony, cooperation, fairness, and balance. After much debating of each of the choices, our group decided on the ideal “balance”.  We all agreed that balance for the people means to treat everyone the same, for everybody to be equal and to be treated no more or no less. We all are together as people and work as a stable team. However, after learning more about the principles of design, our group has decided to rethink our new ideal. There are a lot of different ideas currently being tossed around the group, and good arguments to why it is good or not. Our group decided that the LGBT community, African Americans, and men and women who are treated with unequal or unfair rights are in our community. It is currently 10:34 A.M and we are in our fourth period and our group is having difficulties working on ideas and together period, the reason is probably because we are barely into the project/challenge and don't have a stable idea yet. As of now, we do not have a concrete idea for our landform. So our homework for the weekend will be to design a land form.

We have been talking about how engineers and gardeners should come here to make something. But Mr.Garica didn't like the idea. We decided our people limit is 1,000, but they stay there for 6 weeks and learn how to be balanced. We make an age limit 13-17. We decided that we would bring in 13-17-year-old teens and teach them the ways of equality and be balanced so they can begin a new generation of equality. The way we would make different groups and combine them to make a society is by combining teens with different personalities to get along. Before teens are allowed in we decided that we will test them to find out their personalities and characteristics. Some of the personalities can include introverts, extroverts, physical, mental, etc. We would then split the teens up into groups and make them work together and learn how to be balanced. This morning during our break, Mr.Garcia signed off our concept but did not approve our design. So, we met up during lunch and came up with a new design. Rather than making our landform "bean" shaped, we were inspired by Mr.Garcia to shape the land in a specific way so that it can have a purpose. Our new land form is now shaped like a clapboard. In order to complete today's to-do list, we have separated ourselves into 3 smaller groups, each working on different tasks. One of the groups worked on painting the landform, while the other made papier-mâché for the mountains. The third group worked on finishing the apartments. Our group feels that we were all being productive, with each and everyone in our group contributing help towards the construction of our landform. However, we wished that we brought more materials for us to use. We finished painting the details of the land form and the movie screen/green-screen started building the city set prototype and began researching ideas for how to incorporate at least four elements of matter into our landform. However, the group encountered some problems and overall did not feel productive. First of all, we wanted to make the buildings sturdy and so we used cardboard. However, we started to run out of cardboard and had to improvise by layering cardstock, which took more time and materials. In addition, we had a two-sided screen (one side the green screen and the other a movie screen), but we later realized that putting the green screen on the green grass would not be a good idea. So we detached the 2 screens and decided to put in different locations, which also took up more time. At the end of class, all representatives/team leaders from each team were to meet with Mr.Garcia for some new information. Claudia, our representative/team leader, later came back and informed the rest of us that this project was due Wednesday. Everyone was assigned something to work on over the weekend so that on Monday we can just place the structures onto the landform. Today we had to work at our maximum potential in order to finish the landform project in time. With Claudia gone for Cougar Challenge, we had some trouble getting started. However, we slowly began to find our rhythm and eventually were able to finish the majority of the landform. One major setback we encountered was realizing the buildings were not proportional. We also revised our apartments, so lots of more people can stay in the two buildings.
