Purpose

The purpose for this documentary was to show that although life comes with many struggles, spending it with the one you love the most will carry you through it all and make the bad times feel like good times. In the film, the wife discusses how she lost children when she was younger and was glad to have her "hubby" with her during that time. When doing yard work, they had a unique sense of humor with it and started playing in the leaves. Towards the end when the husband got really sick, the wife was by his side saying the only way he got to leave this world was if she was alongside him.

Achieved Purpose

Overall the documentary did achieve its intended purpose. The director used appropriate background music to have the audience feel the emotions that the elderly couple were feeling throughout the movie. For example when the husband passed away, the music played in the background made the audience understand how the wife felt. Footage of the wife grieving over the loss of her "hubby" helps the audience understand what she was feeling and how his death impacted her life. Since they were together for about 70+ years, not having anyone by her side is a big change and can be a struggle transitioning. The lack of background information that the director left out gives the audience more freedom to figure out/create their own story or understanding of this couple and how their relationship began.

After watching the documentary, the overall feeling was a mix of emotions and made us think about how we should live our life day in and day out. It also makes you think about your life will turn out when you reach that point in time. This film was popular in South Korea because not only was it filmed there but the ages of the couple and the love that they had for each other is viewed as a normal lifestyle there. After watching this film it made me realize that life comes with many struggles but also beautiness if you have the right people by your side. So it made me see that choosing good friends and loving your family a lot is something that could reflect on a lifetime full of love.
