" One of the great things about science is that it is an entire experience in finding what is true!" Neil deGasse said. I was intrigued by his passion and desire for the human race to stop arguing with science and what it can prove.

Before watching him and studying this section I really didn't have an opinion on science but was always interested in it. In high school and early college, I was that one that always questioned "why" and wanted to see and feel concrete answers expecially when it comes to formulas. Many people have a mind set that way and as the world changes and the things around us change I am hoping it will get more people to be open minded and want to learn why things are changing and how they can be proven with science.
I no longer have to prove formulas and facts that have already been proven and am excited to open students minds to the challenge of todays changing world and what we can do using science to prove the past and possibly predict the future in parts.

The scientific inquiry method versus the scientific theory is seperated by step by step instruction and experiment. Students in my opinion learn better and easier with the theory which is step-by-step. That could be because I learn easier that way and would be more comfortable teaching that way. When I leave my mind open to what if's and try to think more outside the box I begin to doubt and lose sight of facts and believing what I am trying to prove and or present.

I do want to challenge myself along with my students and try to explore and learn with my students so that will be something to look forward to in my teaching. I learned in NS 100 that exploring science, experimenting, trying to figure out the cause and effect of why things are what they are and what combinations made each thing become what it is, will be a never ending, all changing experiment and that it is ok for that to be. This world is a never ending science project and I am hoping to bring that to students and get them excited about learning and being a part of what our future knows about science and our earth.

Before NS 100 I had an idea of how the world became the way it is, the shape, reasons for continents and oceans, ets. but after this class I have more questions than ever before. In the video Life Begins they say scientists can possibly prove the world is at least 3.5 billion years old and some think maybe even 3.8 billion years old. Now I must say this peaked my interest and put me in a curious gear to learn more and research deeper.

Before NS 100 I had a college course that ventured me into this area and I was in shock. The facts and proof of the earth being even an inch closer to the sun and examples like the earth spinning any slower, that the results from science show would be catastauphic.

I do not feel like my attitude or opinion was changed on this during the NS 100 course. It reminded me of my curiosity and challenged me to read more on this. I am looking forward to teaching students on this topic and diving into the more interesting facts of science regarding the earth and micro to macro changes and effects.

NS 100 has enlightened me on science in general and peaked my curiosity toward learning more. It has been many years since I was enrolled in college so this course has boosted my interest and brought back memories too.

This course reminded me how interesting science is and also refreshed my interest. The information we learned in the videos and scientists speaking about how our world has changed, brought me to a new level of wanting to research todays scientific facts. I was intrigued and did not realize just how interesting science really is when you dig into it. Since it has been so long since attending college and participating in a science course, I really had never thought about what all has changed, been proven and what is still unknown in the science world. I am looking forward to learning more science facts that are up to date.

NS 100 pushed me to have to read articles, watch videos and research science projects that I would have never thought about again unless I was having to teach it.

During this process of gaining my teaching degree and certificate I am beginning to see and feel more like a student and less like a teacher. In all aspects of life, teaching someone is the best way to better learn something. I feel excited now knowing during this process I am sharpening up areas that I will be teaching in a classroom myself. I want a good solid base of everything I teach. The new and exciting part of this is that I am learning as I go and I know in science and so many other subjects I will learn even more along the way as I teach students. NS 100 course has pushed me in a way that I am excited about the future in teaching and may even lead me to pick science as my course direction for classroom teaching.
