These sculptures are created by taking a body cast using duct tape. Next the cast is covered in plaster casting. Building plaster is then used to create texture.
Behind an 'unnatural tree' created from man-made and natural materials. An old wooden studio easel as the base (trunk of the tree). Fallen tress branches to create the natural part of the tree. Plaster is used to bind the two together. I gained inspiration from Duchamp’s ‘Mile of Strings’. Students were asked to interact with this by first choosing a color string of any length, second attach the string to the base and then to whatever hook on the wall. This ‘back and forth’ was repeated until the student ran out of the string. As more and more pupils got involved, the brief got more complicated, making it amusing and fun . The end product - a room full of string. Similar to ‘Miles of String’. This project was part of my third-year art assignment.
