- Analogy for Design
Design is like a pair of bright eyes, can be keen insight into the problem, dig out the details of the beauty and add innumerable colors to human life. Designers' eyes can always look for differences in details and express the beauty in details through different channels. Whether it is clothing design, interior design, computer software design, etc., design can play its biggest role in different fields. The ideas they create will spread this special idea to different places through design, making life more convenient or having a special taste of life.

week 1: Aged Care/Child Care Project Introduction

The aging of society has gradually presented a variety of problems in today's society. Most countries cannot avoid the social problem of an aging society.

The health problems of aging populations as they get older, the resulting chronic health problems require professional caregivers to provide geriatric care. Especially, the elderly who live alone and whose children are independent and economically separated from the family of origin are prone to different problems (Pleschberger et al. 2019). Older people are prone to various sudden illnesses such as shock or heart problems that cause fainting. From 2014 to 2016, the main cause of death for the elderly in Australia was coronary heart disease, followed by dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AIHW 2018). Elderly people with their physical conditions are affected by communication difficulties such as poor hearing, which require health care services or families to meet their daily needs. Because of the increasing demand for health care and the high prevalence of communication disorders among the elderly, caregivers who provide health care services need to be skilled at communicating effectively with these elderly people, and to make them feel respected and patient (Yorkston, Bourgeois, and Baylor 2010). Communication is particularly important in these emergencies. Good communication in the community or among friends can help these elderly people get help in time when they need it. Ensuring that the elderly is cared for by carers in nursing homes and maintain good social skills can help exercise the brain and reduce the risk of mental health problems. One report found that nearly a quarter of adults over the age of 65 are considered socially isolated and lack social communication. Elderly people who lose friends and family are at risk for health risks of elderly loneliness (CDC 2020). However, there is another kind of people who can help the elderly regain their value and achieve a sense of accomplishment that is children. The interaction of older adults with younger children can make them feel a sense of accomplishment or success and reduce any social loneliness, as well as help children learn how to interact with older adults, allowing them to acquire more social and emotional skills (says 2017). This interaction has no downside but benefits for both parties. In today's society where both parents have jobs, children are generally educated and cared for in nurseries. When the children interact with the elderly at the nursing home, the old people's years of life experience and what they have seen and heard can bring good experience to the children. In child psychology, voice is one of the main ways that children imitate (Shrier 2014). Children learn vocabulary by sight and hearing, and at this stage their ability to imitate and learn is very powerful. Communication is the most important part of the children's development in the nursery (“The Importance of Communication at Nursery | Carlisle - Parkfield Nursery” n.d.). Not only do they build a good friendship with their children, but they also integrate them into the community and improve their social skills.

reference:
AIHW. 2018. “Older Australia at a Glance, Causes of Death - Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.” Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
