In reality, it is beneficial for there to be culturally-enriched texts that high school students should read for educational benefit. With that being stated, this collection of texts should include diverse and multi-cultural authors.&nbsp;<br>Topic: In historical perspectives, white men have been widely represented in educational literature while women and other ethnicities are not being fully represented in an educational environment.&nbsp;<br>Topic: Multicultural differences have previously provided challenges in the classroom; however,&nbsp;widening a student's perspective in cultures promotes an acceptance in diversity and furthers knowledge. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thesis:Students in high school are often tought works based on their teachers or schools perspective so in order to expose students to multiple perspectives there should be a diverse list of books that teachers are required to pick from. This affords teachers the opportunity to choose a book they find beneficial as well as the method they display it in therefore promoting creativity, variety and structure.<br>Topic 1:By requiring schools to have a list of multicultural titles to choose from, it allows teachers a say in what they teach while also expressing diversity to the students(Doc A,E)<br>Topic 2:Moreover, teachers should be given a choice to use works of literature which are not included in required anthologies so that they are able to use any part of the literature as well as utilizing modern forms of technology(Doc C,F)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Text should be valued and explored in whatever ways desired with certain guidelines. By encouraging teachers to teach with limited guidelines it can allow room for more creative thinking and inovation all while incorporating diversity.<br><br>Topic: Through the national school system being limited to reading generalized texts, and not being able to read various texts from multicultural literature could potentially prevent the students from expanding their minds (E).<br>Topic 2: Unfortunately many of the highly renouned texts are very biased when linked to diversity. Due to the fact of there being an abundance of white males who have become mainstream writers instead of an african american or a women also discourages students from connecting with the text.</div>]]></description>

Required texts are generally not multicultural readings, which prevents students from being exposed to enriching texts that provide diverse characters and viewpoints from around the world.<br><br>Topic sentence 1: The opportunity for more freedom to choose what books students should read will allow for a much more diverse selection of books available to students.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Thesis: The traditional canon of literature is dulling the creative aspects of high school classrooms and the younger generation's brains. By encouraging teachers to not teach within a confined criteria and curriculum, the school system is allowing for more creativity to take place in schools. This creativity is able to stem from the newfound understandings of multiculturalistic views.&nbsp;<br><br>Topic One: The current guidelines of what a teacher is to cover in a general literature class consists of texts from all over the world. In passing, it seems very inclusive, but when you take a further look it only takes in to account one view of history; that of a white man.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1) While the idea of an entire country reading the same texts has some appeal, there are some serious drawbacks due to the inability to deviate from the curriculum.&nbsp;<br>2) On the other hand, total freedom of teachers to choose their own texts to teach can lead to bias and a disconnect from grade level AKS.&nbsp;<br>3) However, if a more flexible national guideline is implemented with required time periods, authors, or culturally diverse subject matter, teachers would be able to tailor their teaching to their students, resulting in both successful and culturally diversified students. </div>]]></description>
