Hi guys! In these days I have flipped through the album of my last summer holidays... I miss so much summer, in particular Porto Cesareo: I left my heart there.... It was a fantastic holiday!
From 18 to 27 August. I went to Salento with my cousin's family. During the week we stayed in Porto Cesareo in a flat near the beach, but we have also visited other cities.

Porto Cesareo is a town in the Italian Province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy, it is located by the Ionian Sea and it is an important tourist location well-known for its golden beaches and the wonderful sea. The town is quite small, but very beautiful.

The harbour

The town is characterised by a small harbour which at night is illuminated. It is one of the best parts of the town. During the third week of August the citizens celebrate Saint Cesarea (the saint of the town):the streets are  illuminated by twinkle lights and around the harbour there are many stalls...there is an atmosphere of happiness!

Beaches

The resort of Porto Cesareo is made up of about 18 km of coastline with white sandy beaches and crystal clear sea. Off the coast there are small islands, the largest is called Isola dei Conigli. The whole area of Porto Cesareo is home to the nature reserve, which also includes an extensive marine area. There are no rocks in the sea and there are shallows. Walking along the beach you’ll find several sections with umbrellas and some little bars. 
Some people call Porto Cesareo  the Maldives of Salento: it’s truly paradise.

Porto Cesareo is the ideal place where you can spend summer holidays, it is a bit far from here, but it's worth it. I went there by car, but I think the best way to go is by plane... the road trip is too long and boring (it takes you around 10 hours), also the air travel takes you only 1 hour and 30 minutes. In fact when went to Porto Cesareo we  spend one night at half of the trip in a hotel.
It is a lovely place: the city centre is very small, so it will only take you less than one day to visit it. The best part of this town are the harbour and the beaches: they are unforgettable. There you can sunbathe, swim and also get a paddle boat. 
If you'll go there and you'll be undecided where you'll stay I suggest you the flat, I think that it is the best accomodation. When we went there we visited many city like Lecce, Santa Maria Di Leuca, Gallipoli and many others, so the flat would be more convenient and comfortable.

In Porto Cesareo I had a lot of fun and I was amazed about the beautiful beaches in particular Torre Lapillo beach: it was wonderful! If you'll go there, i'm sure you'll be impressed. In the  evening if you don't know what to eat, I suggest you to go to the restaurant 'Il Grecale'. It is in the town center, there is a beautiful view of the sea... I would definitely recommend to go to Porto Cesareo.
 For sea lovers is a must!
