One activity I will be participating in during our student teaching semester will be a professional development day. This day is designated to provide staff with time to learn new skills to implement in their classrooms, collaborate with others, and allows you to reimagine teaching and learning. I am looking forward to attending this PD day to further understand what I will be doing once I have my own classroom.

The first week of March we are having a STEM night for the students. This gets families involved and can help with parent-teacher dynamic. Another activity going on during my student teaching will be parent-teacher conferences. I am both excited and nervous for this to happen because I know at least one of our students is struggling in many aspects and is on the brink of being retained. I look forward to seeing all of your responses!

I attended a professional development day before going back to school from Christmas break. All staff was required to attend, it was active intruder training. This training talked about scenarios and how we can be best prepared for them. There will be several more PD days that I plan on attending throughout my student teaching.

One way to implement PD is to have a team meeting weekly while students are at specials and teachers are on plan time. This time can be used to discuss upcoming units, learning objectives, and how different subjects will be integrated. To brainstorm engaging activities, manipulatives, and tools to enhance learning.

Participating in parent nights is a great way to have school, home, & community collaboration. I haven't been to a parent night with my first-grade classroom yet, but I am excited to participate in the upcoming one. I go to the Kindergarten parent night with my daughter who is in Kindergarten and we always have a great time!

Towards the end of January, I will be volunteering my time to work the concession stand for the high school basketball teams. I am excited to serve our community through making sure they are able to get their snacks and drinks, while they watch their home team compete.

One way I can participate in a PD activity is by being included and participated when my CT plans her lessons for the week. I am in the art classroom, so my teacher plans her lessons by herself every Monday for the week.

I can participate in a SHCC activity by helping set up for the yearly art show or by helping with art club. In February my CT has to set up pieces of all her student's artwork to be judged and for families to come in and see their child's hard work. Art club is also an activity my CT holds after school. So, I could stay and help her with that as well.

I will be attending the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference this semester. This conference will go over different ways to teach band and how to engage students. The conference will take place over three days. I am excited to see what suggestions they have and see how I can implement what they say in my classroom.

The first way that I could engage the community is through band performances. This is something that naturally happens, and so it is an easy way to get myself and my ensemble in front of the community. Encouraging students to perform a solo and or ensemble piece for MSSHA would be a way to engage the home. This would require the students to stay after school, and also practice at home. At the Osceola High School, we have a couple of students doing this and it allows parents to come in listen to their students play.

Before Christmas break I decided to help set up for the Christmas concert. One day I let my kids help us set up. This way I was able to show them that good things come from hard work. They would also be able to show their parents that they did more than just sing, they were able to create something beautiful.

One thing that I try to do is help with concession stands or take care of the score board at the school. If I can't do that then I will at least show up at the game to show support for our school. This doesn't just help the school but also shows the parents and students that you care enough to be there after hours.

One family night event that I will be attending and running a booth for is the family reading night. The families have been reading a book together at home this last quarter and they will have the opportunity to come and play games, have snacks and learn additional facts about the animals and or other characters in the book at an edu booth! This particular book had an animal theme about opossums and so the school is asking the conservation team to come in and share more about them. This will be a great way for the community to come together and for me to meet families :)

One way that I have participated in a PD activity(s) is actively working with my teacher team and CT to help plan lessons and share ideas in our LP meetings and Curriculum meetings.

One thing that my school does is movie nights at the school. The teachers can sign up to help, or go and enjoy the movie with students. I intend to go to a couple of them, and my teacher has signed me up to help at one.

One way that I have engaged in PD is by studying and going over phonics, phonemic awareness, and the many rules that apply to spelling. It is something that is huge in first grade, and I want to make sure I am up to date on all the information. Therefore, I wanted to obtain as much knowledge as possible to make sure what I tell students in the correct thing.

Researching information for a lesson is professional development because you are trying to better yourself as a professional. Don't be afraid to google something.

I have been scouring for opportunities for these logs everywhere I go since I first learned of this assignment—I want to be as prepared as possible for this. I have ideas fo working with art clubs and art-related activities in my hometown (Bolivar) as well as Buffalo. The inclement weather is making this difficult, so I may just have to stay in Bolivar for now until the winter passes. I am still learning as much as I can about PD stuff, and I’m not sure how many in-person opportunities I will get, so I am looking into watching lessons/reading professional documentations instead. I am still looking for an opportunity to attend a school-board meeting. I hope everyone else has good luck with this assignment!

There was a PD day on January 3rd which was a PD day where the teachers could prepare their rooms to welcome the students back for the new semester the next day. I enjoyed participating in this because it showed me what it looks like to plan and organize your room after a long break. My school will have at least one PD day a month and it will discuss various things. I think having a PD day where you can just get your classroom organized and plan for the new semester is great.

My cooperating teacher gave me a school calendar with the different events the school will have within the semester. I know specifically for the grade that I am teaching will have a concert at some point and I plan on going to it so my students will see that I support them outside of the classroom too. I also think that a community event that not necessarily is planned would be to host game nights where the parents can come up to the school and the teachers can play games with their students as well as with thier families.

My 4th grade class is studying the Revolutionary War. They have each picked one person related to the war to research and write a paper on. After they complete this part of the project, they will make a "model" of their person. They will then display their "models" and parents will have the opportunity to come and see their "models". It will be a little museum night. That is a great way to get the parents into the school for them to see what their child has been learning about!

The team of 4th grade teachers at my school have two meetings each week. One meeting is just with the three of them to work on planning for the week. The other meeting involves the principal. The meeting with the principal allows the teachers to bring up any issues or concerns that they have. Both of these meetings are great ways to build professional development!

I haven't had much on this so far, but every morning, the teachers meet and go through a devotion and share prayer requests. This has been great in creating community and keeping a focus on discipling our students as well. I know we have a few PD days where students do not come in and my CT and I have been planning and preparing all of the lessons thus far.

I have already been going to basketball games and cheering on my students outside of the classroom since last semester! It's fun to see nonathletic sixth graders have so much joy playing. I will also be participating in the Bearcat Book Battle that my class will be competing in later this semester.

I haven't had much happen yet but one thing to do is go to ball games. That is probably one of the best ways. My students are also doing a musical sometime so something that involves music or an art show can work. Attending quiz bowl events can also count.

While I have not been able to experience this due to weather, we have bi-weekly PD meetings in our school. I am not 100% sure what that will look like, but I know we do have that in place. Another way is our annual music educators conference. The music faculty are all going, and the conference is a major PD opportunity for both future and current music educators. Since we have a smaller program, all of the music faculty interact regularly which helps with making sure we are aligned.

The main SHCC opportunity for the music world is concerts! Since we are a performance art, having that interaction to perform is just a part of our lives. Spring semester also has a lot of extra opportunities, such as honor band and solo/small ensembles. These are events that parents are able to come watch, and are usually on the weekend, so it does not interfere with work schedules. We also play at things like Grandparent days and are currently brainstorming more opportunities for the students to have more performances. Another thing for me personally is that I work the extended care program and have some of my band students in there so I get to continue to interact with them and build that relationship and meet parents as they are picked up.

We have not had many meetings yet, but one thing we have done was that the third grade teachers got together and worked on their reading plans for students that are struggling. They went over scores and what they could do and discussed these to see what they could do.

One activity that I will be participating in is field day for elementary kids. It's similar to the carnival but more physical activity. This will not occur until I believe mid to end April. I believe I will be done student teaching by then, but my CT and I talked about me coming back and helping participate in it so I can get some experience, see how things run and work from a teachers point of view, and I will get to see my students again and have a fun and exercise filled day with them!

I have contributed to the community and students is that I coach the Junior High softball team at the same school that I am currently doing my student teaching at. I have been coaching there for the past 3 years and I will be returning to coach for my 4th year in March. It has helped me create relationships with the students that I coach and will teach. It is also great for me to meet the parents of the students/players and get familiar with them and build a relationship with them as well. I am pretty well known in the school I student teach at because of coaching and I am an alumni, so it's great seeing the community and providing back to them!

One way I'll be getting some PD hours in, is through IEP meetings. I have a total of 5 students who rotate between our classes and the special ed class. While at these meetings, the teachers, therapists, etc... who work with these students discuss ways to help improve the education plan. When we meet with the guardian(s) after our meeting, we discuss our thoughts, observations, and ask for their thoughts/suggestions. This allows us to ensure that the child is able to meet parental and educational standards.

For me personally, I coach cheerleading at Bolivar schools, so I am constantly in attendance of games and practices with students. I think another good way to get involved in the community is to see if you can help out with your school's booster club. They do fundraising for the school. A big one could be volunteering to work concessions at a game/meet or ushering a theater/music production!

Last time I spent time at Morrisville, my CT hosted a field trip to Crystal Bridges Museum in Arkansas. If this counts, I think this would be a really fun way to develop SHCC hours. I have heard something about PTA meetings that I think would also be interesting to sit in on if I can. If given the opportunity, I would also like to attend some of the JV basketball games this season because quite a few of my students play on the team.

During my time at the school I have noticed that a bunch of students play sports outside of school so I will be trying to get out and see some of them play to get to know the community better. Some of the teachers that teach the specials classes which consist of art, music, tech class, and PE meet every morning to go over what is working in their class and they talk about issues that could come up and how they have all handled them. The other day we talked about how we wanted to structure field day and how we can make it the best possible day for the students.

I found out that the head coach of the track team here in Clinton is the same coach that I had when I was in high school. For my PD hours I plan on doing a ton of research into Psychology. I am qualified to teach the class with my degree but I am not comfortable with a lot of the material as my time at SBU has focused more on the history side of my content area. I will be reading articles, books, and some educational videos that will allow me to expand my knowledge base. Clinton also has PD days in which we go over a variety of things.

I am currently in the fifth grade and plan on using my time to learn new ways to help young readers become more familiar with text features, characterization, and parts of speech. These skills are so important and teaching these skills can prove challenging. As technology advances and kids watch videos daily they get disconnected from the importance of reading stories. In the rural area I work in, this has become more common in our younger grades. I plan on attending conferences and meetings. This will give a more impactful experience more me to allow me the knowledge to educate my students.

I have become involved in the church in my ST school district. This has been the best decision in my journey with God. I unfortunately have been unable to attend the monthly PD meeting that my cooperating school has, because it was a few weeks ago, but my cooperating teacher did tell me a little bit about it. There was a whole group meeting dedicated to improving the students learning via their computers. They had someone host the meeting and explain what were some ways that would make it better or easier for the students.

Another would be the upcoming annual music education conference that all of the Missouri music educators attend and get to learn from experienced individuals, as well as listen to some amazing performances.

Something that is very prominent within the music community are concerts. We do many performances throughout the year and are able to display the progress that we have made.

Another thing would be to attend sporting events. though some are required for the band to attend, I think that it is very important to support the athletes as they support the band, in their attendance to a concert. I would like to bridge the gap that seems to be in my cooperating school, between sports and music. If attending different events helps the students to be more accepting of each other, I think that it would be worth giving up a Thursday evening.

I was able to attend a PD day at Bolivar on Jan 3rd and most of the day was spent prepping lessons and worksheets for students coming back, as well as preparing the classroom. I've been told they also have weekly meetings on Tuesdays as a team but I have yet to attend one because of the snow days. I am pretty sure they have at least one PD day a month that I will also be attending.

I know that my students will be having a field day as well as a field trip later in the semester where I will be able to interact with students and parents alike. My teacher also has a STEAM club that meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and sometimes I think she invites parents to come with their students. Another way would be to attend the events that my students are involved in, like sports, plays, or competitions, especially if they are local. I also plan to attend any plays or concerts that my students may be in throughout the year!

For professional development I plan to attend one of the meetings for the third grade at Willow Springs Elementary. During this time teachers collaborate and discuss units and which lessons to teach to cover the main topics needed for students' education. Typically the principal starts the day off with a all-staff meeting and then grade levels work together throughout the day to complete tasks. I have not made a PD day yet but will in near future.

One thing is to help with the end-of-year talent show, and field day, I also helped during our book fair, and plan to help guide students on field trips. For community collaboration, I plan on going to school events to show support. These could be sporting events, plays, games, etc. There is also an event called "Dancing with the Stars" at Bolivar HS during the spring and the SBU football team usually goes to it to support. I do wish that I could have more time to perhaps help coach a sport, but football takes up a lot of my time.

I have already been to a professional development day at Bolivar HS on January 3rd. During this time, I got to see my cooperating teacher and meet other faculty. We also worked on preparing for the semester and getting assignments ready. There was also a faculty meeting with the whole school and all the teachers. During this time, the principal discussed the plans for the upcoming semester and talked about the school's plans to use a new software for Canvas school assignments.

I have already been to a PD day for student teaching this semester. I was able to meet all of the other teachers and sit in on a school wide meeting. The meeting had a lot of cool information and gave me some good insight on how different plans and programs are made and presented in a school. Normally this school does some sort of team building activity at every PD day, but they did not do one this day. After the meeting the teachers were able to then prepare for the upcoming semester. It was really cool to be apart of and learn from.

For community collaboration there are quite a few event that I can be apart of. My cooperating teacher is in charge of something this school does called senior projects. Basically, the students work on a big project throughout the year and then present their project to the school and community towards the end of the year. I plan on going to this presentation and helping with it. She also is in charge of a night where the seniors have an opportunity to be recognized for whatever they plan on doing after high school. I also plan on going to and helping with this event. Aside from the events that my cooperating teacher is apart of, I also plan on going to events like basketball games and things like that to help support some of the students that I have in class and be out in the community.

I am looking forward to many activities that I will be able to log for my SHCC log (such as we had a field trip to the Zone in Rolla that included the community involvement, this was 150 minutes, I will also be working after school with my CT and other teachers doing Enrichment Activities starting in February, I will be attending Volleyball games and as many of those as I possibly can just to name a few). As for PD, we have a 45 minute teacher meeting every Thursday, and we have several full day PD meetings scheduled too.

Another way that I get PD time in is staying after school and assisting my CT in future lesson planning. She has taught me so much during this time about how to get lessons together and finding resources to help reach all the Standards needed in 2nd grade. Green Forest is a small school, but I have already noticed that they are a very well ran school with lots of opportunities to reach the surrounding community.

I have several plans for community involvement. The only issues I have is that I have practice after school and I am often not available until 6:30 PM. Despite this, there are a few events I am looking forward to attending. The first would be track meets. Track meets are always looking for available workers, so I am sure I will be able to find a position at a school meet where I will be of use. A second event is the Buffalo History Department's EOC practice nights. This event is meant to help students prepare for the Government EOC later this semester. I had to miss the first one because of practice, but I am planning on asking off in order to attend.

There are two days when I plan to get my PD log completed. The first is attending as many PD days as possible. During those days I will need to spend as much of the day on school as I can. The second way is to do PD research when I am in my planning hours for my student teaching assignment. I do not have much time after school to complete assignments and logs, so I need to manage my school time wisely.

I was under the impression that PD hours were only the PD days that my school has held but after reading more I see that there is a lot of PD that I have done and will continue doing. One way I am getting PD hours is by helping my teacher with lesson planning, another is by sitting in on planning meetings for students with intervention plans. One more thing that I plan to do is my own research on how to handle situations within the classroom, I will get this information from credible sources such as MSTA training, etc.
