I would love to see my students excited about math and fluently doing basic skills in fun ways. I want them to excited about math centers. I want them counting and noticing math everywhere.

My vision for my math room would be a room of rich discussion. Students openly explaining thinking and the process of how they came up with their answer as well as students commenting back.

Being able to create rhythms over a steady beat. Subdividing while singing or playing an instrument. Seeing music notes as fractions

My classroom can become noisy. There is a lot of discussion as we are constantly reasoning and explaining and critiquing. I hope to have ALL students using what they know to help them figure out what they don’t. Students should be using relationships between numbers to solve problems. And of course practicing the MPs.

My math classroom sometimes would sound like a few students dominating the discussions. I feel that is because most of the students prerequisite math skills were not strong. I envision a math classroom with strong prerequisite skills and group discussion on different strategies to solve math problems

My vision is for students to be excited about math. I don't want them to focus on getting the right answer but the process of solving these problems and enjoying them like riddles.

I no longer teach math but I would want them to like or love math. I would like them to challenge and celebrate each other. I would want them to make real connection to the real world.
