TurboJET's Mr Wong did not elaborate on how such ferry plus show packages actually work. Sands China Ltd, one of the city's six casino operators, which has various facilities for concerts and exhibitions, already offers ferry services through Kotai Water Jet, which is operated by Kotai Ferry Ltd.

TurboJET is operated by Shun Tak-China Travel Ship Management Ltd. The parent organization is Shun Tak Holdings Ltd., founded by the late Stanley Ho Hung Sun, a Macau casino monopoly, and China Travel International Investment Hong Kong, which is part of a Chinese tourism group.

Some ferry services from Guangdong Province, China are also offered in Macau.

For the Hong Kong-Macao route, TurboJet currently runs more than 60 weekly voyages, with frequency every half hour, Wong told Macau Daily News. He said that was about 50% of pre-COVID-19 one-day voyages.

Wong pointed out that 24-hour service is currently impossible due to a shortage of employees due to retirement of elderly flight attendants.

In comments to the newspaper, he noted that pre-pandemic factors such as competition for bus services through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge continue.

Macau had nearly 1.12 million visitors via ferry in the first quarter of this year, according to data from the Macao Bureau of Statistics: 42.7% of them were from mainland China, while another 38.4% were from Hong Kong.

First-quarter maritime arrivals represented 62% of nearly 1.79 million in the first quarter of 2019.
