Step 1: Getting familiar with project items

The first step for me was figuring out which resources I would be using for this project. After sifting through the delivered goods, and comparing with the pdf resource from our class page, I boiled it down to these items to start with.

Step 2: Attaching markers

I decided to divert a little from the pdf instructions and start by constructing my base first. I did this with the thought process that the battery propeller would have to work with and around what I had available. You'll see a super glue gun in the image. This is because while I initially attached the markers with masking tape, I was not confident that they would stay put. So I decided to hot glue on top of the tape to secure the markers on the Tupperware.

Step 3: Organizing battery parts

I must say, this was the most frustrating part for me. I sometimes have unsteady hands, so I ended up having to put masking tape within the rubber band in order to keep the wires from falling from place. I had to apply masking tape on the outside as well to keep the rubber band from slipping. After several attempts, I was able to have the image below as my finished product.

My next step was to find a way to safely attach my motor to a platform I could attach to my base. I was lucky to find some spare velcro stickers I had left So I used them to attach both my battery and motor safely. I attached them to a cut off bottom of a Solo cup to give me more custom-ability on where I could switch placement on the base.

Another problem I ran into was determining where exactly I was going to attach my motor. Specifically because of the attached glue stick. Because my base cones out, the glue stick would bump into it, preventing movement. To remedy this, I used the remaining part of my Solo cup to create a mini platform placed farther away from the base. To attach it, I simply taped and hot glued the platform on the base. I then glued the motor base on top of the platform.

One concern I had was that it was too heavy on one side, and as a result would fall, but this ended up not happening to my joy!

p.s. It's a little loud in the video because I had my 3d printer going off at the same time too.

I really enjoyed this project, and in the process, I learned quite a bit. Some challenges I faced were that some parts were so small, which didn't compliment my shaky hands. On top of that, I had to figure out how to get things to stay in place, which required a lot of... creative solutions. But while I created tupperware with a plastic cape, I am actually really fond of it. Most importantly, I was really proud that it worked! I believe that is one of the biggest satisfactions I've had with the projects this semester, the immediate feedback if what you made, well, works. What you start to realize is that there can be several different paths to the same outcome which you can see in other classmates padlets. Things I would have done differently though? I would have definitely made the top weight of my base more balanced. While it didn't fall, the scribbles were not as even as they could have been if there had been more balance.
