Who we serve  D-Lab helps UC Berkeley undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff move forward with world-class research in data intensive social science and humanities.

What we do  D-Lab assists the Berkeley community with the full range of research development, research design and data acquisition. We offer guidance in statistical methods and results to data visualization and communication.  

Who we are  D-Lab is comprised of scholars who create a learning community that teaches workshops and offers consultations.

When are the topic reviews held and how can you sign up?

Please see the google calendar below for the most up to date information about Topic Reviews for each course. You should also receive an email from the Topic Review Facilitator with the date, time, topic, and RSVP Form each week.

By signing up on this link, you will be invited to join the bCourses project site where you can access the videos, notes, worksheets, or other resources that are released in conjunction with the SLC Math/Stat Topic Reviews. This is also a great way to receive up-to-date information about upcoming review sessions in your course. We update the bCourses invitations once every business day.

The Discovery Opportunities Database is UC Berkeley’s centralized search engine for our 32k undergraduates to search for research and internships in and beyond the classroom.  

What’s in our Database?

The database contains a wide variety of experiences tailored for undergraduates during their student years at UC Berkeley such as: 

• Undergraduate Research

• Public Service & Study abroad

• Internships & Entrepreneurship

• Fellowships

• Students enrolling in Summer Sessions: Please note that Summer Session A begins before Spring grades are made available. Eligibility for Summer aid may change once Spring grades are posted, and SAP is reviewed.

Enrollemt holds are placed before the beginning of each semester and lifts once financial aid is disbursed/bill item is paid.

Enrollment (Full Time Status): If you are currently enrolled less than full time (12 units) your awards are reduced. After the 5th week of the semester, Financial Aid would add a replacement grant to fill in the gap. While you would receive this replacement grant, please note that students must be enrolled in at least 6 units to qualify for any Financial Aid and students who are not enrolled Full time will impact their Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). SAP is evaluated at the end of each Spring semester and failure to meet SAP requirements will impact aid eligibility for the following year (including Summer 2026).

What Does This Mean?  

File by March 2 to ensure that you will be considered for the maximum amount of aid you are eligible for; if you file after the March 2 deadline, some types of financial aid may be limited. 

Enter UC Berkeley’s federal school code (001312) on your application to ensure we receive your information. 

In-Person Support 

Throughout the month of February, we’ll be offering support to help you complete your FAFSA or CADAA for the 2026–27 academic year at our Financial Aid Fridays: Financial Aid Completion Workshops, held in-person, on Fridays, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in 250 Sproul Hall. For details about workshops and webinars, visit our Financial Aid and Scholarship Events page. 

Receive additional help for completing the CADAA from the Undocumented Student Program (USP). Starting February 4, USP will host a series of CADAA in-person drop-in and virtual  

Appointments. Sign up for the USP newsletter for more information. 

Online Resources 

FAFSA filers can find useful information on how to complete the FAFSA on our new resource page that walks you through what to expect when filing for federal aid: FAFSA Completion Overview.

Students from mixed-status households may have privacy concerns as they complete their financial aid applications. The University of California webpage on Financial Aid & Privacy provides important information about each type of financial aid application including data protections, types of aid available with each application, and considerations for choosing the right financial aid application for you.

• Join us for Scholar Circle, a monthly space for Fiat Lux Scholars to come together in community. Held on the first Wednesday of every month from 4–5 PM, Scholar Circle is an opportunity to connect with fellow scholars and your Program Advisor.

• Use this time to build relationships, share and hear community announcements, learn about upcoming events and opportunities, and spend time with your Fiat Lux Family. Scholars are welcome to lead a game, organize a group study session, or just hang out and connect. Feel free to bring your own food, games, or activities.
