I am currently pursuing my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Chicago School.

I obtained my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School in 2021.

I obtained a bachelor's degree in psychological sciences in 2017 from Xavier University of Louisiana.

My current independent study focuses on codeswitching among marginalized communities and its implications for ongoing professional identity development and Imposter Syndrome.

I have worked in outpatient community mental health, inpatient mental health, as a military family and life counselor (MFLC) and in outpatient private practice. I provided services and assessments to children and adolescents, families, couples, and adults.

I specialize in trauma therapy for adolescents, PTSD treatment, racial and multicultural treatment, and military related services. I have additional experience working with survivors of sexually violent crimes, infertility, and substance use and addictions.

I have recently obtained my credential as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I am currently working toward completion of my Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (tfCBT) Certification, which should be completed by Summer 2026. I am also working toward a certification for Forensic Interviewing.

I believe counselor education is a transformative process that shapes the professional and personal identity of emerging counselors. My role as an educator is to cultivate ethical, culturally responsive, and self-aware practitioners who are prepared to serve diverse communities with integrity and empathy. The classroom space is not only a site of information transfer but is a collaborative environment in which students actively construct their professional identities through reflection, practice, and dialogue, where curiosity meets challenge. Mutual respect, accountability and open and honest communication are cornerstones of the educator-student relationship.  

My ultimate vision as a counselor educator is to train empathetic, competent counselors, who embody advocacy and social justice in their work. I want students to leave courses not only capable of serving clients effectively but prepared to lead change in their communities while remaining grounded in ethical practice and attuned to the spaces they inhabit. My hope is for students to carry forth a deep respect for diversity, a reediness to challenge inequities, and enduring personal and professional growth.  

My supervision is grounded in constructivist and experiential learning principles, supported by the Developmental and Feminist Multicultural Models of Supervision, and strengthened by a strengths-based perspective. These frameworks allow me to meet students where they are, honoring their lived experiences, while challenging them to expand their skills and perspectives. I integrate multicultural competence and cultural humility into teaching, emphasizing that effective counseling requires both technical proficiency and an ongoing commitment to self-awareness and advocacy.

I aim to create an environment that simultaneously supports and challenges students.

The Developmental Model of Supervision guides my scaffolding of skills, while the Feminist Multicultural Model of Supervision ensures that power dynamics are addressed and student voices are valued. A strengths-based approach reinforces resilience and professional confidence, particularly when students encounter inevitable changes and challenges present in clinical work. I attend to skill acquisition and professional dispositions, emphasizing ethical decision-making, cultural humility, and self-care as inseparable from competent practice.
