This is a map explaining some of my past and some of my future. Towards the bottom of my map comes all my distress and sorrow and at the top is everything in life that brings me joy or is "close to home" that's why the castle is called Kingdom Hearts.

I was going to make it into a stencil but the paper I used for the mold was too thin so it ruined the whole stencil. So I made it digital but the print is about 2ft x 4ft so I think it is fine.

figured out the direction I wanted my map to face, and which of my compass rose designs I wanted to use

decided the base should be two 18X24 sheets of watercolor paper taped together. Final dimensions 24X36. Then shuffled the pictures I wanted to use around, with some stand in squares of paper for the stuff I wanted to draw directly on the paper. All the art here is mine! Some of it is.... old...

I wanted to do a brain because it could look like my thoughts or memories. For the compass rose I did a heart because of the saying “follow your heart.” For any hardships that I have faced I decided to color those in a golden yellow because in Japan, people fix broken pottery with gold which is called Kintsugi or “golden joinery.” I wanted to emphasize my hardships and show that they have made me who I am and that they are as important as anything else I have been through.

I took inspiration from old fantasy-land map for this project. My map depicts a journey to traveling through the past, present and future. The progression from past to future start from South to North and each phase is a different elevation level of land also. Each emotion that the journey encompassed are represented symbolically with landscaping.
