STATEMENT: 
The image is a combination of three different stages in the history of Pride. Victorian, Stonewall and modern day pride celebration. There is a green carnation, from a Victorian illustration plate - this was used to reference the amazing Oscar Wilde - and a very faint image of a victorian man in DRAG; the Stonewall sign, where the riots erupted - following years of police brutality, and the modern symbolism of the rainbow. The white carnations signify strength, these represent the strength of our feeling and hope that change will come soon. I tried to keep as much of the image in black as possible, wanting that to be the main focus of the piece.
