Also to spread happiness like he would with humor. I love you Coach Kurtz. Thank you for being like a father to me. That just goes to show you how amazing he was and who he impacted in his life. He deserved way better than this. I vividly remember one day during freshman year, we had only been in school about a month. I was having a rough day, not a single person had noticed but he did. He pulled me aside after class and talked to me about my day and how things were going at home. He made sure to pay special attention to every student every single day. Thank you for everything Coach Kurtz.
Love Blind Girl #2

I know you are looking down on us calling us “mullets” and calling me “blind girl” from heaven. Thank you for always caring about me and the situation with my dad having cancer, and for always asking me how he was doing. Thank you for always making my day 10x better. I wasn’t even good at shotput but you were so patient with me. I came to shotput just to chill with you, not because I was obsessed with shotput hahaha. I love you coach. Rest easy. On bad days you went out of your way to make others smile and you were such a caring person. I remember when I was a freshman and I had recently joined the athletic training program I was nervous to be around the football guys. You saw that I was nervous and you came up to me and immediately made me laugh. You helped me to open up to the football guys and become a more confident person. I can’t believe you’re really gone. I miss you and love you so much. However, someone told me to think of it this way. Coach Kurtz was an angel that God sent to us to brighten our lives and God needed him back to help another community and impact them as greatly as you have Coach Kurtz.

You were such an amazing teacher/coach but an even more amazing person. You always knew what to say to me when I was having a bad day, and you would always check in on me to see how I was doing. Whether it be about biology freshman year or how track and field was going, you cared about me. You made me feel appreciated and I know you did the same for every student and athlete at Antonian. I remember my freshman year, when I would walk into your class right as the bell rang (because I was coming from volleyball), instead of getting upset, you would smile and ask how practice was. Later on that year, when track season started, you supported me and helped me manage school and track. You would stay until the very end of the meet to watch me run the 4 by 400 meter relay and if you couldn’t stay, you made it a goal to ask me how it went the next day. And when I wasn’t running, you would help me with my bio homework as I waited to run. Whenever you would watch me run, you stood exactly where it would start to hurt to encourage me to finish strong. You helped me get through each 400 meter race that I ran and you pushed me to be better. We had our first track meet of the season today, and let me tell you it wasn’t the same without you. I’m dedicating this track season and the rest of the seasons in my career to you coach Kurtz. You had such a positive impact on my life and I can’t even begin to describe how much my life has been changed by you. I love you so much coach, rest easy❤️ ~Alaina
