There is the 4 year college path.  After you have a Bachelors degree in education, you may apply for the I-SEAL program (at no cost to you).  If you have a Bachelors degree (in anything), you may qualify for the Transition to Teach pathway.  If you are a high school graduate, you may be able to work in a school in a Grow Your Own program.  Some colleges have Post Baccalaureate programs to add-on the special education license.  Some may be attracted to a certification add-on. Many colleges now have online options.   

I encourage anyone thinking about going into special education to see which option is best for you!
