"Most believe today kids will have poorer chance of holding a steady job and owning a home without too much debt, and that their children will have less opportunities to achieve a comfortable retirement.

I feel this quote is true because peoples economic status, opportunities and there heritage are big factor in how the American dream affect people. Also if people can't afford to send their kids to school their already at a disadvantage. Over time the American dream has been changing. Many people feel the American dream is owning your home. As of latley people have not been buying home rates went down from 69% to 64%.

This year we read raisin in the sun. Its a play about a African american family trying to achieve the american dream. The setting is Chicago 1950's. The family encounters racism and discrimination. The family worked very hard to sustain things essential to life. The main character Walter tries to invest into a company with his friends. end all this plan doesn't work out. at the end of the play the family moves into their house, which is a upgrade from there one bed room apartment. in the play the family has climb the economic status but I feel the family didn't achieve the american dream. I feel the family couldn't achieve their goals because the time period was full of racism and racial stereotypes.
